Build and maintain mountain bike and hiking trails. Construct new biking trails with hand tools, as well as move large rocks and logs. Assist with special events, such as bike races, marathons, and festivals. As a customer focused organization, a crucial part of each employee's job is to get and keep guests. A key part of every employee's job is to serve as a Targhee ambassador, engaging the guest at every opportunity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Building and maintaining hiking and biking trails using hand tools
  2. Constructing new biking and hiking trails using hand tools
  3. Must be self motivated and dependable and work well with others
  4. Perform any reasonable duty as assigned by management
  5. Willing to work all day outdoors, rain or sunshine
  6. Assist with event staffing and organization
  7. Ride trails and terrain features to test

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:

  1. Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.
  2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
  3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
  4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort’s Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.
  5. Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.
  6. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior experience in a trail building in a bike park environment preferred. Must be a Downhill Mountain Biker and can ride all levels of trails in the Bike Park. Previous experience operating ATVs and trucks is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The employee must be able to read and interpret documents such as written work plans, SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and equipment manuals. The employee must be able to communicate verbally with co-workers, supervisors, and contractors.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

The employee frequently is required to walk and hike steep mountain terrain. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. Must be able to consistently lift 50 lbs. +, and occasionally lift 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to work on their feet 10+ hours/day.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee may work in high, precarious places. The employee may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
