    Tour Bus Drivers transports cruise guests and non-cruise guests to various locations at Icy Strait Point. The driver will ensure guests are transported to different locations based on the tour and scheduling. 

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles: BAP: Best, Authentic, Profitable
    • Provide excellent customer service to all IPS guests
    • Provide guests with general information about ISP
    • Participate in all required trainings
    • Promote other ISP venues, distribute ISP literature and/or sell ISP merchandise
    • Work as greeters to welcome guests and conduct guest orientations
    • Take tickets, and load passengers
    • Assist within programs wherever needed
    • Daily fueling and cleaning of vehicles as assigned
    • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements:

    • Adequate knowledge or willingness to learn about Tlingit culture
    • Valid CDL Driver’s license with ‘P’ endorsement and no air brake restriction
    • Current DOT Medical Certificate
    • Must have good customer service skills and the ability to communicate with ISP guests and others in a professional, friendly, and accurate manner. 
    • The Driver must be able to learn, retain and relay general ISP information. 
    • Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.

    Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

    • Able to sit for extended periods
    • Comfortable traveling by small plane or ferry to and from a remote setting
    • Able to walk and drive on gravel roads in inclement weather when on site.

  • Culture Program Actor

    Actors provide a leadership role as well as interpretation and narration for guests attending various theater productions. Actors will be cross trained to play all parts in Icy Strait Point Theater Productions and may be required to switch actor assignment schedule if necessary.

    • Provide excellent customer service to all Icy Strait Point guests
    • Provide guests with information about the scenery, wildlife, history, culture and geography
    • Provide guests with information about all tours available at Icy Strait Point

    Requirements:

    • Adequate knowledge or willingness to learn about Tlingit culture
    • Must be able to learn a Tlingit Introduction
    • Knowledge of the local area (marine life, plants, animals, birds)
    • Must have good verbal communication; patient and able to lead groups of kids as well as adults
    • Ability to learn, retain and present excursion information to guests in an accurate manner.
    • Ability to project voice to 75-85 decibel level
    • Able to sing Tlingit songs and dance
    • Basic sewing skill and/or ability to learn
    • Ability to function in a theatrical environment (lights, darkness, masks)

  • Gondola Attendant

    Category:        Seasonal (May through September)

    Salary:            $18 per hour

     

    Position Summary:

    Gondola Attendant are responsible for the safety of our guests while they are loading, riding, and unloading our gondola cabins, and responsible for making positive contact with ISP guests.  You will be spending your days outside.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles: Best, Authentic, and Profitable Tour Destination
    • Provide excellent customer service to all Icy Strait Point guests, including tours.
    • Load and unload guests on the different gondola stations, aiding mobility challenged guests in the safe loading/unloading into the cabins.
    • Inform Operator or Supervisor of abnormal or unusual conditions that may adversely affect the safety of the gondola operation.
    • Handle crowd control in gondola queue areas.
    • Monitors and controls gondola unload area.
    • Maintain cleanliness on loading and off-loading area and maze throughout the day.
    • Ensure all shut-down procedures are followed, no passengers left on gondola, and that cabins is ready to operate next day.
    • Participate in all required trainings, including cross training for Guest Representative and Tour Sales Representative.
    • Promote other Icy Strait Point venues, distribute literature and/or sell merchandise.
    • Assist within programs wherever needed.

    Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

    • Willing to work outdoors, including during inclement weather.
    • Must have good customer service skills and the ability to communicate with ISP guests and others in a professional, friendly and accurate manner. 
    • Able to stand for long periods of time – required.
    • Must be safety conscious and able to make quick decisions.
    • Guest Service Representatives must be able to learn, retain and relay excursion information. 
    • Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
    • 1+ years’ experience with intermediate ski/ride skills preferred.
    • Good work ethic, dependability, and excellent customer service & communication skills

  • Zipline Operator

    This position requires authorization to work in the US without sponsorship.  

    Work on Chichagoff Island as its home to more brown bears than humans, its a place where eagles soar overhead and whales are regularly seen just offshore. Surrounded by towering rainforest and set against the backdrop of mist-shrouded mountains, guests can truly immerse themselves in our wilderness environment.

    Pay is $18 an hour plus a season completion bonus of $1200.


    Seasonal (April - October in Hoonah, Alaska)  

    Summary:

    Zip Rider Operator is to ensure that riders are safely prepared to participate in the world’s largest Zip Rider. Icy Strait Point’s Zip Rider is 1,300’ high, over a mile long, moves at speeds up to 60mph and takes approximately 90 seconds from top to the bottom. It’s a rush! There is the “top tower,” where guests arrive by means of a scenic gondola ride before being securely strapped into the harness seat by you, the operator, and there is the “bottom tower” where guests are unstrapped by you, the operator.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Always keep safety foremost in your mind and actions when on the job.
    • Duties & Responsibilities specific to the Zip Line
      1. Securely strap guests into harness seat at start of ride and out of harness seat at end of ride. 
      2. Also use a two-check process at the top tower.  One person to secure and one to double check secure of guest.  
      3. From “bottom tower” at end of ride, return harnesses to “top tower.”
      4. From “top tower” retrieve returned harnesses for start of next ride.
    • Learn and impart knowledge to guests of all that Icy Strait Point has to offer, including history, tours, food and beverage venues, retail products and venues.
    • Participate in all required trainings and safety meetings
    • Maintain a current First Aid/CPR certification
    • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements:

    • This is a safety sensitive position that is subject to drug testing.

    The overriding responsibility of a bear safety employee is to SAFELY provide a high-quality experience for anyone being transported by bus and on foot at the Spasski Bear Trail, or the ISP Hiking Trail. Bear Safety staff are expected to be able to provide interpretation and narration for guests on bear excursions and answer occasional questions.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles: Best, Authentic and Profitable Tour Destination.
    • Always act in a SAFE, responsible manner and keep all equipment in SAFE condition.
    • Deliver a first-class experience to all guests and visitors.
    • Effective public speaking when addressing guests, crew or the public.
    • Learn and impart knowledge to guests and do site promotion of Icy Strait Point
    • Provide excellent customer service to all ISP guests.
    • Ensure the safety of all guests on tours.
    • Ability to take charge of a crowd in an emergency.

    Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

    • Have or be able to attain First Aid/CPR certification.
    • Driver’s License with clean driving record preferred
    • Must be insurable with Icy Strait Point (DUI, DWI, negligent or reckless driving citations within the past 5 years is uninsurable).
    • Firearm knowledge and experience
    • Pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion of drug and alcohol testing.
    • Must be able to learn a Tlingit Introduction, knowledge, or willingness to learn about Tlingit culture.

    Keeps all public facilities in a neat and clean condition. Public area attendant promotes a positive image of the site to guests and must be pleasant, honest, friendly and should also able to address guest requests and problems. We are looking for someone to start in March and work until the end of the season, Oct 27th. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Cleans interior of buildings, outside site spaces and restrooms.
    • Empties ashtrays and urns.
    • Cut wood and keep fires going on site
    • Polishes furniture and fixtures.
    • Keeps the front of the building and site free from trash.
    • Washes walls and ceilings, moves and arranges furniture.
    • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
    • Dust and polishes metal work.
    • To perform daily assigned tasks in toilets, buildings, trash, sites, etc.
    • To clean and maintain all equipment daily.
    • To follow up a special cleaning program
    • To report maintenance issues to supervisor immediately.
    • To assist Guest in Public Areas when required.
    • To have good knowledge of all facilities, hours of operation, Restaurants, shops and function rooms.
    • Post caution signs as and when required.
    • Responsible to follow departmental policies and procedures.
    • Responsible for upkeep of all the equipment which he is using i.e., Vacuum cleaner, trolleys, Scrubbing machine.
    • Responsible for maintaining a time schedule for cleaning of their areas.
    • Responsible for spring/winter cleaning of their area as per the schedule is given to them.

    A Security Officer, is responsible for monitoring the assigned specific area ensuring proper identification, evicting trespassers and writing reports detailing any occurrences during their shift.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    The overall duty of a Security Guard is to protect a company’s property, employees, and visitors.

    • Monitoring activities in assigned location on the company’s premises regularly to discourage criminals and ensure the environment is safe and secure
    • Evicting trespassers and violators and detaining perpetrators while following legal protocols before relevant authorities arrive to take over
    • Controlling the entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and vehicles according to protocols
    • Providing detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents that may have occurred to management
    • Using provided communication devices such as two-way radios in a clear and concise manner

    • Ensure that each Guest receives outstanding Guest Service by providing a Guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every Guest, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of Guest Service.
    • Maintain an awareness of all product knowledge information, merchandise promotions, and advertisements.
    • Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance and store housekeeping.
