Alaska's Inside Passage has long been one of the world's top destinations for sea kayaking. And for good reason... Protected waterways provide a setting for breaching whales, wild salmon, bears, wolves, calving glaciers, huge coastal mountains and towering temperate rain forest!
Spirit Walker Expeditions is looking for a sea kayak guide to lead 1-7 day trips in Glacier Bay National Park and the Tongass National Forest. The position is seasonal - late-May through August. We are based in Gustavus, Alaska, population 500 (higher in the summer). Gustavus is a bike-friendly town full of musicians, artists, adventurers, fishermen, and lovers of wild places. Housing is available in our wall-tent village.
Our guides have a passion for the outdoors, are fun-loving, hardworking, and love to paddle and camp. They are curious and enthusiastic about the nature of Southeast Alaska. We provide in-house training in natural history, leave-no-trace techniques, camp cooking, and of course sea kayaking safety and skills. Guides must have a Wilderness First Responder certification and be at least 21 years old.
