Primary Purpose of Position

The Housekeeping Supervisor oversees the Housekeeping staff and inspects their work on a daily basis, to ensure that guest rooms are ready for occupancy. This person also ensures that The Ranch public spaces and all other areas and buildings are immaculately clean, organized, and sanitary. The supervisor is responsible for supervising daily operations of the department, upholding department standards for cleanliness in accordance to Forbes Five Star Standard, ensuring a quality product and delivering an exceptional guest experience. The ideal candidate would be service oriented, detail-oriented, team player and a good mentor and trainer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Knowledgeable of and able to perform all duties of housekeeping and laundry attendants.
  2. Assist with responsibilities and duties of housekeeping and laundry services during need periods.
  3. Address guest concerns, requests and special requirements in a timely manner to ensure guest satisfaction.
  4. Communicate guest concerns, requests and special requirements in a timely manner to appropriate departments.
  5. Assist in creating, reviewing and monitoring staff schedule to ensure there is sufficient coverage at all times.
  6. Be experienced in leading a housekeeping team in a multi-unit facility requiring daily cleaning.
  7. Confirm all staff members have arrived and document/find substitutes for any late or absent employees.
  8. Prepares work priorities by obtaining list of vacant rooms that need to be cleaned immediately, and list of prospective check-outs.
  9. Provides room availability information by informing manager or desk clerk of rooms ready for occupancy.
  10. Maintains rooms and common areas of the property by conducting visual inspections of furniture, walls, and floor coverings; taking or recommending needed actions to management.
  11. Contributes to team effort by attending period staff meeting with other department supervisors; discussing company policies and patrons’ complaints; making recommendations to improve service and operations.
  12. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  13. Keeps housekeeping supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
  14. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; call for repairs.
  15. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and co-ordinations with other team members.
  16. Assist the Director of Operation and Director of Engineering in managing property operations to maximize profitability and growth.

Education/Experience
Required

  1. High School Degree or GED.
  2. Minimum of three years in housekeeping.  Minimum of one year supervisor experience.
  3. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time up to 8 hours a day.
  4. Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed accuracy, follow through, and work with a minimum supervision.
  5. Ability to exert physical effort consistent with cleaning assigned rooms as per Ranch standards.
  6. Ability to grasp, bend, and stoop; push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 30 lbs
  7. Valid Driver’s License

Special Skills/Physical Demand

  1. Display a friendly, courteous and professional demeanor in all dealings with guests, patrons and other employees.
  2. Ability to communicate with guests/ employees to their understanding and to provide legible written communications and direction.
  3. Ability to use radio/pager and respond in a timely manner.
  4. Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision and focus attention on details.
  5. Ability to prioritize, organize work assignment and follow-up to achieve desired results.
  6. Ability to ensure security and confidentiality of guest and company information.
  7. Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  8. Ability to regularly lift and or move 15 lbs. and occasionally lift or move 30 lbs.
  9. Ability to stand for long periods of time and move frequently from area to area.
