Works as a member of the Fly Fishing Guide team, reports to Expeditions Director (Benjy Duke). Key traits for success: leadership, accountability, guiding/teaching skills, local fishing knowledge, customer service, organization. The Head Fly Fishing Guide shares the responsibilities of the regular fishing guides, and is also responsible for scheduling and overseeing the fishing guide crew, communicating with the Ranch Managers and other department heads on a regular basis, and ensuring that guests are receiving a top-quality fishing experience. The Head Fly Fishing Guide is expected to uphold Ranch policies for employee conduct among the fishing guides. Additional specific responsibilities are listed below:

  • Point person for communications with guests and for logistics.
  • Communicating/training guide culture, norms, and expectations and upholding these throughout the season.
  • Providing guest orientation on Sundays.
  • Leadership Team liaison.
  • Training week planning and execution.
  • Daily trip planning, scheduling, logistics.
  • Youth fishing coordination.
  • Fish Shack organization and maintenance (creating systems to delegate and share these tasks among the guides).
  • Vehicle cleaning and maintenance upkeep ((creating systems to delegate and share these tasks among the guides).
  • Gear/flies/equipment inventory maintenance and ordering.

All fishing guide staff members work a 6-day work week with an average of 8 hours/day. They must be able to lift/carry at least 40 pounds.
