  • Archery Counselor

    Activity Specialist
    Camp Towanda

    Archery instructors are part of Camp Towanda's Outdoor Adventure program. Instructors supervise and teach small groups of campers at our archery range. Campers will range in experience.
    Safety is of the utmost importance.

    Experience with Archery is an asset. We do provide Level 1 US Archery Association Instructor course during staff training week.

    Experience with other areas of Outdoor Adventure (climbing, camping) is also a great asset.

     

  • Baseball Counselor

    Spend your summer Coaching Baseball at Camp Towanda! Join our Towanda Team this summer!
    Camp Towanda is looking for experienced, enthusiastic and diligent Baseball Coaches to teach our campers, both boys and girls, ages 7-17. Our campers have a wide range of experience with baseball, from competitive, college bound players, to those campers who are just being introduced to the sport. Additionally, coaches are responsible for coaching our intracamp games and intercamp leagues, including county-wide tournaments with other camps. This is a great opportunity for experienced players and developing coaches to gain coaching and leadership experience with a wide variety of ages and abilities!

    Responsibilities include coaching, umpiring, executing lesson plans and coordinating with Department Head, Program Director and Athletic Director.  Specialists help teach groups of 20-40 campers at a time (boys and girls, ages 7-17). When you are not instructing in your area of expertise, you will work with the group that you live with, as a General Counselor.

  • Ceramics Counselor

    Spend your summer being creative and having fun at Camp Towanda!
    Camp Towanda is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and diligent ceramics teacher to work in our beautiful Arts & Crafts facility, helping campers ages 7-17, explore and produce a variety of creative projects. Our Arts & Crafts program includes drawing, painting, paper mache, leatherwork, jewelry-making, ceramics, pottery, glass fusion and woodworking. While there may be 20-40 campers at a time in Arts & Crafts, there will only be 8-10 in the ceramic area at once. Ceramics Specialists must know how to work an electric kiln, teach hand building and wheel work, and have knowledge of glazes. This is a great way to develop your teaching skills, share your passion and join a fun, collaborative team!

  • Dance Instructor

    Camp Towanda

    Dance specialists at Camp Towanda teach daily dance classes to our campers, boys and girls, ages 7-17. Dance styles include hip hop, zumba, jazz, modern, etc. We offer competitive dance opportunities those campers interested, as well as cheerleading competitions, working closely with our gymnastics department.

    Campers with an advanced interest in dance and performance often perform during special events and as "halftimes" entertainment. Additionally, our dance instructors work closely with our drama staff teaching dance and choreography for musical productions.

  • Photographer

    Activity Specialist
    Camp Towanda

    The Media Team at Camp Towanda acts as an in-house production studio capturing daily photos, creating weekly highlight videos, social media content, podcasts and so much more! This is a great opportunity for professional hands-on experience with photo, video, audio and podcasting in an amazing, fun, collaborative environment. 

    This is a great opportunity to spend your summer taking photos, improving your camera skills, receiving creative feedback and building your portfolio.

  • Excursions Leader

    Activity Specialist
    Camp Towanda

    The Excursion Leader is an integral part of our Outdoor Adventure program. This is a leadership position requiring advanced awareness of safety and responsibility. The Excursion Leader will lead a team of up to 5 "River Crew" members. Excursions consist primarily of river trips, which are facilitated through our local River Trip Facilitator. Trips are usually 2-3 days off camp, paddling and camping. Experience with canoes/kayaks/boating is important, as well as strong swimmings skills.

    The Excursion Leader will be required to complete Lifeguard training (provided during Orientation). Strong swimming experience required.

    When not on trip, the Excursion Leader rejoins the Outdoor Adventure team, assisting with ropes, climbing tower, overnight sleep outs (on site), and campfires.

    Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Remaining in daily contact with Outdoor Adventure Director
    • Maintaining regular contact with River Trip Facilitator
    • Present for and participate in River Orientation
    • Maintenance and Storage of all River equipment
    • Providing counselor/camper rosters pre-trip (written) to O&A Director & Program Director.
    • Performing pre-trip briefings (oral)
    • Providing after trip reviews (written or oral)
    • Organizing all equipment, food, and logistics necessary for river trip
    • First Aid/CPR/Life Guard Certified by American Red Cross (provided during Orientation)
    • Provide continuity of care on the River and at Camp Sites at all times
    • Provide leadership and maintain order for river staff and campers during ordinary and non-ordinary river events
    • Responsible for all aspects of program, equipment, safety, staff, campers.
    • Be aware of all special dietary or medical needs of participants (campers & staff).
  • Fitness Instructor

    Camp Towanda

    Fitness Instructors at Camp Towanda teach daily fitness classes, ranging from pilates, Zumba or yoga, to body weight or equipment based classes. Additionally, our more competitive campers will look to your enthusiasm for fitness advice and instruction.

    Camp Towanda's fitness facilities include our weight room (free weights and machines), a selection of cardio machines, dance/fitness studio, as well as outdoor track and fitness equipment.

  • General Counselor

    Camp Towanda is hiring enthusiastic, outgoing and dedicated staff to work with children ages 7-17. General Counselors are like big brothers/sisters or surrogate parents to our campers during the summer. As a General Counselor you live with the campers and other co-counselors in a cabin and have opportunities to assist in a wide variety of daily activities and sports. You serve as a role model to help our campers navigate camp life.

    We are looking for outgoing leaders that want to make a difference and be part of an amazing inspiring community. The specialty of a General Counselor is the kids themselves! This is an excellent opportunity to be creative, fun, hard working and part of a great team!

  • Golf Counselor

    Camp Towanda is looking for experienced, enthusiastic and diligent Golf Coaches to teach our campers, both boys and girls, ages 7-17. The Golf program offers lessons to campers who have a wide range of experience. This is a great opportunity for both experienced Golf players and developing coaches to gain coaching and leadership experience with a wide variety of ages and abilities!

    Responsibilities include coaching, executing lesson plans and coordinating with the Department Head, Program Director and Athletic Director. There are typically six, 50 minute long activity periods per day. Coaches will be directly involved with the curriculum planning, participant engagement and execution of a successful program related to your sport with various age groups (boys and girls).

  • Gymnastics Instructor

    Camp Towanda is looking for experienced, enthusiastic and diligent gymnastics instructors to teach our campers ages 7-17. Work in our 4500 square foot facility equipped with competitive and recreational equipment, including a foam pit, spring floor, tumble track, beams, bars, shapes, trainers and more! Responsibilities include working closely with our Gymnastics Director in lesson planning, supervision of facility, safety certification, strong spotting skills and experience working with minimum level 6 competitors required. 

    There are typically six, 50 minute long activity periods per day. You will be directly involved with the curriculum planning, participant engagement and execution of a successful program related to the gymnastics program with various age groups (boys and girls).

  • Lacrosse Instructors

  • Hockey Counselor

    Camp Towanda is looking for experienced, enthusiastic and diligent Hockey Coach to teach our campers, both boys and girls, ages 7-17. The Hockey program offers both rollerskate and floor hockey and our campers have a wide range of experience. Additionally, coaches are responsible for coaching our hockey intracamp games and intercamp leagues, including county-wide tournaments with other camps. This is a great opportunity for both experienced players and developing coaches  to gain coaching and leadership experience with a wide variety of ages and abilities!

  • Waterski Instructor

    Spend your summer teaching water skiing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding at Camp Towanda!

    Waterski Specialists at Camp Towanda teach waterskiing, kneeboarding and wakeboarding on our beautiful 33 acre Sunset Lake and 500 acre advanced lake, to campers ages 7-17. Campers skills vary, patience and being able to work with kids is a must. Instructors are also responsible for leading tubing rides and pontoon boat adventures. The waterfront is one of the safest places on camp, thanks to the vigilance and pride our staff take in monitoring all activities near and in the water.  

    All waterfront staff must pass the Red Cross certification course provided by camp during our orientation training session on site. You must be a confident swimmer.

    We are also seeking boat drivers. Must be an experienced power boat driver. We will provide information to become certified in PA Boater Safety and an online course. Responsibilities include daily maintenance on power boats and jetski.

    The Head of Waterski leads a the team of 7 water ski and wake board staff. Responsibilities includes delegating responsibility to department staff, managing fuel consumption, mechanical oversight and wear and tear of all boats, care for all phases of daily boat cleanup, complete daily maintenance log reports. This position works closely with Waterfront Director and Program Director scheduling daily instruction on both lakes, organizing staff, tracking camper progress, as well as being responsible for equipment inventory.

  • Mountain Bike Instructor

    Mountain Bike Instructors are members of our Outdoor Adventure program. The Mountain Bike program includes roughly 50 bikes, utilized in small groups of campers both boys and girls, 7-16 years old, with a variety of biking experience. The focus is instruction and safety when biking. Safety is of the utmost importance.

    Mountain Bike Instructors are also responsible for inventory and maintenance of equipment.

    When bikes are not being used, instructors rejoins the Outdoor Adventure team, assisting with ropes, climbing tower, overnight sleep outs (on site), and campfires. Experience with mountain bikes, as well as these other areas, is valuable. Additional training will be provided during Orientation.

  • Adventure Instructor - Ropes/Climbing Course

    Spend your summer having the Adventure of a lifetime at Camp Towanda!
    Camp Towanda is looking for experienced, outgoing and enthusiastic Outdoor Adventure Instructors. The Outdoor Adventure program at Camp Towanda includes our 40ft climbing wall, high and low rope challenge courses, dual zip lines, self-belaying challenge course, as well as mountain bikes, archery, river excursion and camping. Additionally, we have nature trails and an animal farm including chickens, bunnies, and goats or sheep.

    The Outdoor Adventure program allows our campers, both boys and girls aged 7-17, to challenge themselves, get out of their comfort zone, work as a team and take healthy risks, with the support of their camp community. Outdoor Adventure Instructors set the expectations for safety. Safety is of the utmost importance.

    Experience in the areas offered at the Outdoor Adventure program is an asset.

  • Softball Counselor

  • Swim Instructors WSI

    Spend your summer on the Waterfront at Camp Towanda!
    Camp Towanda is looking for experienced swim instructors to join our Waterfront Team this summer. Swim Instructors should be experienced swimmers, coaching and instructing experience is an asset. We will provide American Red Cross Lifeguard and WSI certification during Orientation. 

    Swim Instructors teach campers, both boys and girls of ages 7-17 with varying abilities and experience in the water. Instructors will be responsible, along with the Waterfront Director, for creating and implementing lesson plans, tracking camper progress, as well as lifeguarding duties when not teaching.

    Our Waterfront facilities include our swimming pool and Sunset Lake, a 30 acre natural spring fed lake featuring several inflatables (giant slide, volleyball trampoline, challenge dome), tarzan swing, paddle boards, sailing, waterski and more!

  • Videographer

    The Media Team at Camp Towanda acts as an in-house production studio capturing daily photos, creating weekly highlight videos, social media content, podcasts and so much more! This is a great opportunity for professional hands-on experience with photo, video, audio and podcasting in an amazing, fun, collaborative environment.

    Videographers at Camp Towanda plays a vital role in preserving the history of our camp, which is celebrating over 100 years! The Media Team, led by our Media Director, is a creative, collaborative team experience. The Team is responsible for capturing the non-stop action at Camp and compiling it into our weekly highlight video, Friday Nite Flix. Check out past episodes here

    Must be experience with basic cameras (DSLRs) and editing software (Adobe Suite, Premiere Pro) 

     

  • Water Ski Counselor

    Spend your summer teaching water skiing, wakeboarding and kneeboarding at Camp Towanda!
    Camp Towanda is looking for experienced, charismatic and enthusiastic Waterski Instructors. Waterski Instructors teach water skiing, kneeboarding and wakeboarding on our beautiful 33 acre Sunset Lake and 500 acre advanced lake, to campers ages 7-17.     Camp Towanda is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and diligent Woodworking Instructor to lead activity periods with our campers, both boys and girls ages 7-17, on a variety of skills using hand tools and power tools. Woodworking instructors work closely with our Arts and Crafts department and prepare curriculum, projects and supply lists. While there may be 20-40 campers at a time in Arts & Crafts, there will only be 8-10 in the woodworking area at a time. This is a great way to develop your teaching skills, share your passion and join a fun, collaborative team!
