Reports to: Stable Security Manager

Rate: $18.26/hr.

General Description:

Officers are charged with the primary safety of all persons and property situated within their observation and/or assigned area of responsibility

 Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
  • Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances
  • Circulate among visitors, patrons, or employees to preserve order and protect property.
  • Complete logs, incident reports, misc. reports
  • Present self with a neat and clean appearance daily

 Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions. Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing. Able to operate a variety of vehicles for security purposes. Ability to carry out orders and enforce rules and regulations. Good customer service skills. Pleasant demeanor.

 Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a Washington Horse Race Commission background check for licensing
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid Washington driver license

 Work Environment, Communication & Physical Abilities:

Mostly relaxed work environment. Shift work required, including day, swing, night, weekends and holidays all year-round. Communicate with patrons, staff, supervisors, and others with courtesy and respect. Be prepared for a variety of weather conditions. Security should also be prepared to be in/around large groups of patrons during live racing season, as well as horses and equine buildings. Security duties may be indoors or outdoors. Physical abilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Push/lift/carry five to seventy-five pounds (5-75 lbs.)
  • Stand, walk, and sit eight hours (8 hours) per day
  • Maneuver quickly when incidents occur
  • Bend, squat, flex, or reach to complete tasks
  • Good hearing, speech, writing, and observing abilities

  Tools & Equipment:

Vehicles, equipment, tools, radio, and computers.
