Apply NowAs an interpretive trail guide, you will be an educator and entertainer who can enthusiastically provide information to our guests about the flora, fauna, and history of the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary and the surrounding Tongass National Forest. Trail guides are expected to lead professional, informative, and safe tours in a variety of environments. We are looking for candidates who want to share their passion for nature while providing incredible wildlife viewing opportunities to our guests.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Conduct tours in the time allotted with adherence to quality standards
- Lead guests into the rainforest and provide a guided tour of the flora, fauna, and human history of Southeast Alaska
- Effectively manage groups while in the field, assessing guest safety and wellbeing
- Adhere to all ethical wildlife viewing practices
- Help guest in finding gift items in the store and escort guests back to their bus for return trip to ship
NOTE: Our tour season lasts from April through October, with the busiest months for trail guides taking place in July, August, and September. If you can only work for the latter half of the summer, please don't hesitate to apply; we are looking for some staff members to start in late June or July.
