Job Summary: Supervises and directs activities of Lift Maintenance department.

 

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:

 

  • Directly supervise others in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ski lifts.
  • Develop and implement preventative and quality assurance programs to meet or exceed all ANSI-B77, insurance, and management requirements.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain through, accurate, and up to date records of all performed work, inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Procure parts, tools, and resources to complete work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Work with Lift Manager to inventory and the ordering of supplies.
  • Work with Lift Manager to schedule all maintenance on lifts and coordinate maintenance activities with other departments and contract workers.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to employees in accordance with Red Lodge Mountain Resort and employment laws.  Manage staff in a proactive, feedback driven environment.
  • Provide performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, reviews, and disciplinary action.
  • Work with Lift Manager to hire and train employees.
  • Seek out and create work related trainings for improvement of department staff.
  • Ensure customers and employees are treated courteously, safely, and efficiently.
  • Perform duties of lift mechanic and operator as needed.
  • Effectively communicate with other employees/managers in person and via telephone, two-way radio, and email.

Required:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals and legal documents.
  • Comfortable using heavy equipment, power tools, hand tools, line equipment, rigging, and electrical equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective communication with guests, co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Ability to work varied schedule including weekends/holidays.
  • Intermediate or better proficiency in downhill skiing or snowboarding.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle problems and cope with unexpected issues.
  • Work well independently and with others.
  • Ability to operate a snowmobile.

Experience/Education:

 

Required:

  • At least three years mechanical experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of the ski industry.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear and smell.  The employee is frequently required to handle objects, tools, or controls.  Must be capable of walking or standing 90% or more of a normal 10-hour work shift and lifting and moving 100 lbs. or more.  Must be able to walk on uneven terrain and snow and ice, shovel snow, bend, climb, and stoop for extended periods of time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside winter weather conditions, and frequently works near moving mechanical parts. They will be exposed to extreme cold, windy, wet conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and risk of electric shock.
