Job Summary: Responsible for safety and repairs of ski lifts, towers, and chairs.

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Examine all parts of ski lift for safe operation.
  • Perform daily pre-operational checks, weekly and monthly mechanical checks.
  • Maintain accurate written records.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical problems with chairlifts.
  • Complete summer maintenance projects on chairlifts.
  • Assist Lift Operations with employee breaks and training as needed.
  • Remove or relocate snow.
  • Advise supervisor or ski patrol of adverse conditions or problems as appropriate.
  • Effectively communicate with other employees both in person and via telephone/two-way radio.

Required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective communication with guests, co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Comfortable using heavy equipment, power tools, hand tools, line equipment, and rigging.
  • Ability to work varied schedule including weekends/holidays.
  • Intermediate or better proficiency in downhill skiing or snowboarding.
  • Ability to operate a snowmobile.

Experience/ Education

Preferred:

  • Mechanical experience.
  • Knowledge of the ski industry.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear and smell.  The employee is frequently required to handle objects, tools, or controls.  Must be capable of walking or standing 90% or more of a normal 10-hour work shift and lifting and moving 100 lbs. or more.  Must be able to walk on uneven terrain and snow and ice, shovel snow, bend, climb, and stoop for extended periods of time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside winter weather conditions, and frequently works near moving mechanical parts. They will be exposed to extreme cold, windy, wet conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and risk of electric shock.
