Sous Chef Job Description
The 4UR Ranch is looking for a Sous Chef who has a passion for food, and excellence and is wanting to grow and share their culinary knowledge. The Sous Chef reports to the Executive Chef and must help maintain a healthy and positive work environment. We are looking for someone who has a solid knowledge of food and is eager to provide a positive and memorable culinary experience for our guests. Having a strong ability to provide guidance to others, and a strong work ethic is a must.
This seasonal position has the potential of becoming full-time after the completion of the summer season. The position entails a six-day workweek. Work begins at the start of May and goes until the second week of October.
Staff housing and meals are provided during the season.
Monthly seasonal salary $4,350-$4,800 (depending on experience)
Bonus: a job performance-based bonus is given at the end of the season which is determined by the General Manager and Executive Chef.

Skills/Qualifications
Ideal candidate will have:
Four to six years of operational kitchen experience with a diversity of culinary experience and experience with both casual and fine dining.
Supervisory and management experience is required.
Attention to detail and problem solving skills.
US work authorization is required.

Responsibilities and Expectations
Job duties include but are not limited to:
Assist with line setup before and after each service to ensure quality control, quantity levels, and cleanliness.
Assist with cookouts that occur throughout the week.
Work various stations throughout the day while doing prep and supervising others.
Work with the Executive Chef and the Dining Room Manager to ensure FOH and BOH are working as one.
Knowledgeable with high altitude baking.
Assist in ordering product.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Must be able to stand for long periods.
Must be able to go up and down stairs continuously.
Able to work all stations on the cold and hotline; sauté, grill, flat top, fry and salad station.
Work closely with recipes and plate presentations in order to maintain standards of quality in production and presentation.
Inspect and supervise the sanitation and maintenance of equipment.
Ensure training is occurring on an ongoing basis with all employees.
Maintain discipline and motivation for employees.
Perform daily inspections of walk-in, freezers, and dry storage to ensure cleanliness and the proper rotation of food is being done.
Assist in putting food orders away and ensure product is being rotated and stored properly.
Help oversee and assist with staff meals to provide staff with quality meals.
Address problems and irregularities to the Executive Chef with recommended courses of action.
Assist in the development of a safe and clean working environment.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Executive Chef.
Contribute to our environment with a positive and friendly attitude.
Communicate with team members to ensure the highest level of personalized service.
