Bicycle Tour Guide

Sockeye Cycle Co. is a locally-owned bicycle business based in Haines and Skagway, Alaska. We’re a small, Alaskan-owned company, and we're looking for a few guides to join our team in both locations for the 2025 season.

Our Bike Tour Guides spend the summer riding with groups on mountain roads and gravel paths through the temperate rainforest. The main attributes needed are:

• Good leadership & people skills. Experience leading or teaching groups preferred.

• The ability to keep organized and stick to a schedule. 

• A desire to study, learn, and share information about the local region to visitors of all backgrounds.

• A basic understanding of bike mechanics (training opportunities available to increase your skills).

• Experience with bike touring or tour guiding is a plus.

• Guides also drive our tour vans while towing trailers and need to have a driving record clear of major offenses.

Both Skagway & Haines have a vibrant summer community with a great network of trails surrounding the town. Housing is available at our Skagway location at an inexpensive, partially subsidized rate for the term of the contract. We can assist in finding housing in Haines, but we do not have dedicated employee housing there. Positions generally make significant tips, and include end of season bonus, company sponsored trips and events, and industry discounts and pro deals.
