Join our vibrant cabin community on stunning Fire Island as a Summer Seasonal Residential Manager at AMC Fire Island Cabin! We’re looking for an enthusiastic and responsible individual to oversee and ensure the smooth operation of the Fire Island Cabin during the operating season.

What You’ll Be Doing At AMC

  • Daily Operations: Manage day-to-day activities, oversee cabin facilities including laundry, cleaning of facilities, receive deliveries at the marina, and transport them over a 1/4 mile of sand using a beach buggy. Ensure cleanliness and maintain a welcoming environment.

  • Guest Relations: Provide exceptional guest experiences by assisting with check-ins, addressing inquiries, and ensuring guests’ needs are met. Manage kitchen use for guests; assist and/ or oversee meal prep when provided to guests

  •  Maintenance Oversight: Conduct regular inspections, address maintenance issues, and coordinate repairs or improvements as needed.

  • Volunteers: Oversee scheduled volunteers; manage volunteer roles and help with oversite of scheduled programs.

  • Safety and Compliance: Uphold safety standards, implement emergency procedures, and ensure compliance with local regulations and cabin policies. Provide periodic reports to the committee representative and financial updates to the treasurer.

What AMC Is Looking For

  • Experience in hospitality, property management, or related fields preferred.

  • Knowledge of Fire Island Cabin as a volunteer or guest a plus

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Knowledge of basic maintenance, housekeeping practices, and food safety best practices.

  • Basic computer skills

  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays and evenings

  • Availability from early May to mid-October for a 40-hour workweek (specific schedule to be determined).

  • Ability to live on-site in provided single-occupancy tent with cot accommodations, shared bathroom

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move large or bulky items such as furniture, equipment, or supplies. Ability to transport food and supplies via a beach cart across sand ¼ mile from marina to the cabin

  • Wilderness First Aid or Equivalent First Aid and CPR Certification ( can be obtained upon hiring)

This position reports to the FIC Committee Chair.

Salary range: $1,237 per week salary based on experience; on-site laundry; room and board.  A canvas walled tent on a platform with a cot is provided.

The initial salary represents our starting point, and our compensation philosophy is designed to reward and recognize the contributions of our employees as they grow within the organization. External candidates typically begin their journey with us at the starting point of the salary range. The final compensation offer will be based on factors such as experience, education, competencies, and geographic differential relevant to the position, and will be discussed during the interview process.
