For almost 20  years, Avid4 Adventure has empowered kids to live active outdoor lifestyles through our unique outdoor programming.  From leading paddle days on the lake to participating in camp games and competitions to guiding experienced campers through multi-day backpacking expeditions, our Overnight Camp Instructors lay the foundation for a lifelong love of adventure. Please note that room and board is provided all summer long!! Instructors stay on site in shared cabins with the opportunity to take time off to explore the area throughout the season. 

In this role you will

• Provide 24-hour support with guidance, supervision, safety and comfort for participants during all activities.
• Co-lead daily outdoor programming including mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, SUPing and Leave No Trace principles. 
• Organize and participate in camp programming, ranging from outdoor sports to camp games and rituals
• Follow and educate campers on safety protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants
• Serve as a role model and guide campers by exhibiting appropriate behavior, attitudes, and activities
• Provide exceptional customer service to parents and all participants in our programs
• If you are a trained Driver, transport up to 13 campers to and from program areas with company passenger vans
• Candidates with increased experience in one or more of our core sports may serve as a program area expert (i.e., as a Specialist) either supporting multi sport camps or instructing single sport camps in: climbing, mountain biking, whitewater paddling, or survival skills.  

Your Background 

• Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of camp for all positions
• Must be at least 20 years of age to be eligible for a Driver position
• +1 years of experience working with kids in a professional or volunteer setting preferred
• Experience in one of our core sports is preferred, but not required for Instructors
• Demonstrated personal and/or professional experience in one of our core sports is required for some roles
• Minimum of Basic First Aid & CPR certification by the start of camp (and we can point you in the right direction to get this done) Some positions at Camp Windy Peak may require a Wilderness First Aid (or WFR/EMT) certification.

Important Details

• Work Schedule: Overnight camps are a 24/7 operation. The leadership team will create a schedule that provides you with one evening off/week and segments of other time off throughout the week.
• Position Duration: Training begins May 26; overnight camp programs run from June 9 through August 2.
• Compensation: Pay is determined based on position, additional responsibilities, relevant certifications, and staff tenure. Room and board is provided as part of your compensation structure: 
  • Instructors: $411.90/week
  • Specialists: $422.10 - $442.80/week
  • Camp Drivers: additional 3% pay increase conditional on completion of training
  • Relevant Certification Bonuses: $125 - $400 per certification (up to $1,000)
