Sous Chef

The Bar NI Ranch is looking for a highly motivated individual with previous chef experience to assist in running their kitchen during guest season. This person will be the kitchen manager’s “right hand man (or woman)” in planning meals, ordering supplies, supervising other kitchen staff and preparing high quality home cooked meals for both the ranch guests and staff in a punctual manner. They need to have experience in working in the fast-paced kitchen setting while demonstrating top notch positive team leadership skills. Experience in adapting meals for guests’ allergies and food restrictions is a plus. A high level of attention to cleanliness and food safety practices is required. Most meals are served family style or buffet with a handful of meals being plated when we have smaller groups. We also hold several banquets or large events every year that we cater in house. This could be a long-term position with advancement opportunities for the right candidate. Previous management experience is not necessary but obviously helps. It is ideal for someone comfortable living the seasonal lifestyle as this position runs from early spring to late fall. This position could start as early as March or as late as April and could run until Thanksgiving or as late as Christmas. We employ approximately 24 staff and most live on site. Being able to live and work well with coworkers is a must when we live in such close proximity to each other. We don’t have housing for families or pets but if you choose to secure housing off the ranch there could be a slight increase in pay. Compensation includes salary DOE ($2500-$3000 monthly is typical range), housing including utilities, share of tip pool (averages roughly $1,000 month), season end performance-based bonus, option of 401K after one year of employment with 7% match, and other ranch perks including nights for guests to come visit included.
