Our hostel provides shared accommodations to travelers from around the world creating a diverse community where positive social exchange and friendships develop. We focus on creating a community atmosphere and helping travelers explore Alaska and its surrounding glaciers, mountains, and backcountry. We are looking for someone who loves hostels, has experience in management, and has a passion for the outdoors and sharing it with others.
Our position requires a diverse set of skills:
Good interpersonal skills and enjoys engaging and socializing with guests.
Loves the outdoors and wants to share their passion and knowledge on local hikes and places to visit. (if new to Alaska we will train you).
Basic front office skills to register guests and handle payments.
Strong work ethic and multitasking skills
Good housekeeping skills which include cleaning and preparing beds.
Management experience preferred to help train and manage 1 to 2 volunteers who will help keep our hostel clean.
Work 12 hour shifts 3 to 4 days per week. This provides 3 to 4 days off every week to explore throughout Alaska.
We are located in the city of Anchorage walking distance to cafes, restaurants, and nightlife. Our hostel is seasonal and only open between May to September. We have a wood-burning sauna, sensory deprivation float tank, and bicycles to explore the surrounding trails. We recently acquired a 15-passenger van and also take guests to surrounding hikes in our mountains. We rent backcountry gear, grow veggies in our garden, compost, and have chickens.
Benefits
Pay: $22/hr includes free accommodations, utilities, and WIFI.

3 to 4 days off per week to explore Alaska with other guests or staff.
We provide transportation to guests to our local mountains, staff can join in for free or get payed to drive the van and hike with guests once a week (4-6 hours).
Free use of our amenities: bicycles, float tank, sauna, and rental gear.
