Big Creek Lodge is ready for a new season in the breathtaking backcountry of Idaho. It combines the charm of a classic mountain retreat with the appeal of modern amenities. Owned and operated by the Idaho Aviation Foundation, this non-profit public resource provides an opportunity for guests to explore Idaho’s beautiful backcountry.
Big Creek Lodge opens for backcountry fly-ins in May, open to motorized vehicles starting in July, and continues through the first week of October.
Amenities are simple: we generate our own electricity via hydro, we have great sattelite internet. The nearest town of 3,000 is more than a 3-hour drive away...and the lodge's huge fireplace and spruce log construction welcome guests to a quiet getaway. Visitors are thrilled to visit the 2.3 million acre wilderness a stone's throw away, yet enjoy the hospitality and safety Big Creek Lodge provides to those who cannot or do not wish to camp.
Big Creek Lodge has 5 comfortable rooms for rent to the public, and will normally accommodate 10-12 people with up to 22 possible via a backcountry yurt and small cabin nearby. It is known as a special 'fly in' breakfast spot, so weekends can be busy in the morning with slower times mid-week. The Assistant Caretaker will help run the lodge under the direction of an onsite Manager while working cooperatively with a supervisor located in Boise, Idaho.
