    Guest Services Associate

    $18.00 - $22.00 / hour

    Black Point Inn is seeking a Guest Services Associate to help us work through the summer to the end of our 2025 season (May - October)!

    The Front Desk is the hub of Black Point Inn, your days will be action packed and filled with a variety of challenging and rewarding experiences. GSA's are responsible for selling rooms and making reservations, providing concierge services, and operating the front desk. Our Guest Service Manager works along side our Guest Services Associates; there are times when the Guest Service Team will self-supervise and coordinate closely with the bell staff.

    Guest Service Associates that work our closing shift, will have the opportunity to “run the show” for a couple hours each night, which is great experience for those interested in rounding out some of their supervising skills.

    Hot Line Cook

    $18.00 - $24.00 / hour

    Black Point Inn is currently accepting applications for line cooks for our 2025 summer season (May - October), this position both encourages and fosters creativity and is a great chance to hone skills and grow as a chef, you'll have many chances to develop specials! Line cooks will help with food preparation, accurate plating of menu items to ensure our guests a dining experience that exceeds their expectations. Our ideal candidate possesses an open mind and willing to be part of the team.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Preparation of food to be served complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards, following established food production programs and procedures.  Our Line Chefs work closely with Executive Chef/Sous Chef to help guarantee our guests a dining experience which exceeds their expectations.

    SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Ensure that all mise en place is prepared for respective stations as well as proper forecasting of prep needs for assigned station.

    • Prepare food products and execute dishes meeting the standards of the Executive Chef, Hotel Management and our guests, ensuring that food production is coordinated with meal hours so that quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved.

    • Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment including, but not limited to, ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, steamers, mixers and chef’s knives.

    • Handle and communicate special orders and guest complaints in a professional manner. Have a basic understanding of food allergies and cross contamination issues to ensure safety of diners.

    • Maintain food safety, work station and personal cleanliness and sanitations standards as required by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, OSHA, and MEMIC, as well as general maintenance and upkeep of kitchen equipment.

    • Know who to notify in case of broken equipment or unsafe/unsanitary conditions.

    • Must be able to manually handle/lift product up to 60 pounds between knee and chest

    • Must have bilateral fine manipulation of both hands which may be repetitive for entire shift

    • Must be vertically mobile working in limited space for entire shift

    • Protect the assets of this property and the Migis Hotel Group.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be eligible to work in the United States of America.

    • Previous experience as a line cook in a similar property, culinary school or completion of apprenticeship program preferred, or proven experience in higher volume and/or fine dining kitchens.

    • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and written, with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.

    • Ability to understand verbal directions, as well as written menus, recipes, labels on foods and chemicals, and other workplace safety signage.

    • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.

    Housekeeping

    Black Point Inn is now hiring for Full Time and Part Time Housekeeping Associates for our 2025 season (May - October). This position involves daily cleaning of the Inn public spaces and guests' rooms, as well as interaction with guests regarding their needs. Our ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, energetic, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about providing an exceptional level of service. Prior experience is not required but preferred. Training will be provided.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Members of our Housekeeping Team work together to guarantee our guests clean spaces which will exceed their expectations.  Working alone or with a partner, each Housekeeper is responsible for the cleanliness of guest rooms, hallways, activity areas, and public spaces on the property.  Major responsibilities include servicing accommodations according to property procedures, stocking housekeeping carts, replacing bed linens and supplying guest room amenities.  This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work without constant direct supervision.

    SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    ·       Maintain a neat and professional appearance with a properly cleaned uniform.

    ·       Using provided supplies, efficiently and effectively clean and maintain guest rooms and public spaces.  This includes, but is not limited to making beds, changing bed linens, cleaning bathrooms, supplying amenities, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, washing windows, replacing light bulbs, folding linens, as well as removing dirty linens, towels, garbage and recycling, all with attention to detail and to the standards set by property management.

    ·       Must work with a variety of cleaning chemicals, following appropriate directions and in accordance with OSHA and State of Maine regulations.

    ·       Must be able to push cleaning cart / carry cleaning basket with supplies and equipment on both inside and outside surfaces.  Work with colleagues to keep storage areas cleaned and supplied.

    ·       Greet guests warmly and politely, using discretion to avoid disturbing guests in rooms or public spaces.  Understand how everything operates in guest rooms (climate control, fireplaces, fans, lighting, etc) and be able to explain operation to our guests.

    ·       Responsible for security of any room or supply closet keys, as well as for respecting the personal property and privacy of guests while working in guest rooms.

    ·       Be prepared to answer basic questions about the property, activities, etc., or know where to refer guests for answers.

    ·       Work with other members of the Housekeeping Team to ensure that guest’s need are continually met.   Make front desk staff aware of any special needs so that notes can be made for future visits.

    ·       Handle and communicate guest requests, special needs, guest room or public space maintenance issues and guest complaints in a professional manner. 

    ·       Label and submit all lost and found items according to property procedures.

    ·       Understand personal sanitation, the use of personal protective equipment and how to handle unsanitary linens, bodily fluids, etc.  Be aware of ways to prevent personal injury from improper reaching, lifting, stretching and carrying.

    ·       Know who to notify in case of broken equipment or unsafe/unsanitary conditions.

    ·       Manually handle/lift/carry product up to 60 pounds between knee and shoulders.

    ·       Must have bilateral fine manipulation of both hands which may be repetitive for entire shift.

    ·       Must be vertically mobile working in limited space for entire shift.

    Sous Chef

    Black Point Inn, on Prouts Neck in Scarborough, Maine, is seeking the right candidate to become our next Sous Chef. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an independent, Maine based, hotel management company, Migis Hotel Group.

    Sous Chef is one of our entry level to management, seasonal (May - October), positions with the potential for growth and opportunity. As with most kitchens, during day to day operations problems may arise, our ideal candidate would be able to keep a level-head and work towards solutions in a productive way. Our Sous Chef's encouraged to be creative and present new ideas to the property. This position gives hands on experience with managing staff, inventories, and operating a kitchen.

    The Sous Chef at Black Point Inn will assist the Executive Chef (EC) to oversee all aspects of BPI cuisine and kitchen operations, maintaining or exceeding standards of quality and efficiency, and fostering a working environment conducive to learning and leadership development.  The Sous Chef will assume the responsibility for the hotline set-up, break-down, and operations during peak service periods.  Sous Chef is a leadership position working closely with the EC and other department heads to provide an excellent and memorable dining experience.

    Pastry Assistant/Cold Line

    Work in a fast paced, from scratch bakeshop to prepare breakfast pastries, decorate cakes, and prepare desserts for composed plating, build and run grand dessert buffets. Work closely with our Pastry Chef and team to help guarantee our guests a dining experience that exceeds their expectations! Be in charge of keeping dessert station stocked, training the cold line team on plating and creating daily dessert specials! Play with unique flavor combinations in creating one of a kind ice creams and sorbets. Prep desserts, run expo or help cold line plate desserts. 

    Work with others from all over the world who have a passion for food too!

    This is a seasonal position (May through October)

     

    Be able to work in an independent position, with critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Be able to work clean and efficiently.

    Open/close the bakeshop, prepping/producing items for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    Work with pastry chef and sous chef in high volume production needs.

    Build and run dessert buffets, run the dessert station on the cold line, quickly plating desserts, both with ingredient and allergy knowledge.

    Qualifications: Previous experience preferred, but not required in bakery, fine dining restaurant, hotel, or similar type business. A focus on excellent customer service with attention to detail. Willingness to work in fast, high volume environment with extreme temperatures. Ability to work unsupervised, life and carry up to 60 lbs and go up and down stairs often. Knowledge of proper sanitary practices. Familiarity with measurements (weight/volume), and converting. Desserts are expected to be served complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards, following established food production programs and procedures.

    Able to work weekends and holidays, mornings and evening shifts
