Currently recruiting for the season that runs from May 1st, 2025 to October 1st, 2025.

    Sushi Chef

    The Oar is a seasonal high-volume family-owned 280-seat waterfront restaurant seeking a qualified Sushi Chef for the upcoming 2024 summer season. Located on beautiful Block Island, a small island off the coast of Rhode Island, which is accessible only by ferry. We are requiring a chef with five years of experience that can work independently as well as be a team player. You will be expected to produce rolls, nigiri, and sushi efficiently and neatly in a high-pressure restaurant setting. Position runs from May 22, 2025 to October 3, 2025 with a six-day work week, and compensation is hourly based on your experience, skills, and dedication. This is a challenging sushi bar producing over 80 thousand rolls over six months. Must be able to relocate for the 2023 summer season. For this position, we offer a studio apartment.     Front Desk Associate

    Assist the guests of the hotel throughout all the stages of their stay. Positions run from May to early October with a six-day work week.

    Housing is available at $85/week and candidates must be able to relocate to Block Island for the summer.

    Breakfast Manager

    The 1661 Inn on beautiful Block Island, located off the coast of Rhode Island, is seeking a breakfast manager for the upcoming 2024 summer season. The manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the continental breakfast and ensuring a high-quality experience for guests. Candidates are expected to be on time and ready for shifts.

    Positions run from May to October with a six-day work week.

    This position would require relocating to Block Island and living in a single bedroom within staff housing.
