At Borealis Basecamp, we are dedicated to providing the best customer service in Alaska to our guests. We are an adventure resort north of Fairbanks, Alaska, where guests from all over the world gather to watch the northern lights during the winter, the midnight sun during the summer, and experience Alaska’s year-round beauty. We seek dedicated, friendly, energetic people who enjoy interacting with people from all over to join our team. You will be working in guest services both as an Activities Desk Agent and as a Porter.
Activities Desk Duties: Greet guests as they enter the activities center, check them into their activities and ensure all applicable waivers are signed, outfit guests into proper fitting winter gear, sanitize gear as it is returned, sell merchandise from the activities desk, clean activities desk, and maintain a tidy building for guests, communicate accurate availability for all tours to guests
Porter Duties: Offer exceptional customer service while providing shuttle transportation for guests and luggage drop off across the Borealis Basecamp campus. Review daily scheduled activities to provide timely shuttles on an ATV between guest lodging areas and the activities center before/after activities & programs. Answer guest questions, assist guests loading/unloading as needed. Wash, dry, fuel and park ATV.
Requirements:
Ability to communicate with staff & guests in a professional manner. Willing to work a flexible schedule. High school diploma/GED. Previous experience preferred. Ability to safely operate an ATV to transport guests in variable weather. Able to lift, rotate, and place 50 lbs. Willingness to work in the outdoors in the Arctic climate is crucial while having the ability to negotiate uneven terrain in low light. Ability to work on feet for up to 8 hours a day. For all positions at Borealis Basecamp, each and every team member must be willing to help team members out of their regular department and must be able to hold a conversation with a stranger for several minutes. Any & all other duties as assigned.
Season Dates:
Start Date: September 15th
End Date: April 13th
End of Season Bonus: A $1.50 per hour bonus is paid for every hour worked through the season to staff that finish the season. End of season bonus is NOT paid to staff that leave prior to the end of season date of April 13th.
Housing: Onsite staff housing is available at $400 per month. Each room is double or triple occupancy. Common areas with TV, Wifi, computers, dining area, and exercise space. Private bathrooms & laundry facilities. We have a staff chef that prepares lunch & dinner, with breakfast being a self serve continental breakfast of oatmeal, cereal, fruits, etc.
Starting pay: $15 / hr
