- Sleeps in cabin with a group of 8-10 campers and 2 co-counselors
- Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, skill growth, and general well-being during their 9-12 day overnight stay at CBW
- Plans, leads, and implements intentional camp programming for campers that keeps campers engaged, and having fun
- Provides high-quality educational, recreational, and enjoyable indoor and outdoor activities for campers throughout their stay at CBW
- Assists campers with daily living skills as necessary (facilitating a shower schedule, naps, etc.)
- Maintains a schedule for campers and reviews the all-camp schedule daily
- Organizes and leads small and large group activities, ranging from name games to evening activities
- Communicates with co-counselors and camp staff to address needs, wants, or issues that may range from within the cabin to all of camp
- Ensures the cleanliness of the cabin and camp site
- Maintains accurate records, daily behavioral logs as needed, and camper evaluations
- Reports any behavioral incidents to supervisor through written and verbal communication
- Understands all emergency procedures and protocols put in place within the camp
- Is aware of and comprehends all their campers’ dietary restrictions/allergies and ensures that the appropriate meals/snacks are distributed to them
- Mediates and facilitates campers’ discussions (ranging from debriefs to disputes)
- Knows, follows, and enforces all safety guidelines associated with the camp program, this includes knowing the whereabouts of campers, emergency procedures, and appropriate dress code
- Participates and engages in thoughtful feedback during staff meetings, and trainings
- Communicates effectively with direct supervisors by listening, giving feedback, and following camp protocol

- Experience in parks, recreational work, social work, speech therapy, babysitting, mental health fields, education, or related field that works directly with children is preferred
- Overnight and live in position (during camp season, up to 10 weeks)
- Vigilant enough to supervise and engage with 8-10 campers at once
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers and supervisors
- Patient in high pressure situations that deal with camper issues including but not limited to camper anxiety, facilitation of large crowds, homesickness
- Must be willing to work long days with adequate breaks in between (1 hour off per day, nights off, 36hrs off after every session, and 24hrs off every session)
- Flexibility to take on and succeed at multiple positions throughout the program
- Organizational skills
- Will be asked to work with campers of all ages and genders
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks in various climates including but not limited to walking and standing for prolonged periods of time, lifting 10-15lbs, swimming, and more.
- At least 1 year of experience in either a camp, youth program, recreational work, social work, speech therapy, babysitting, mental health fields educational environment or in a related field
- First Aid and CPR certification required before first summer session begins (Camp will provide unpaid day program to get certified)

- Athletics counselors should have ability to lead programs in different areas of sports and recreation: football, soccer, baseball, archery, basketball, kickball, scavenger hunts, stretching, running, hiking, yoga, dance, gaga ball, to name a few
- In cases where the program ends early, or extreme weather (rainy, hot) days backup programs should be planned
- Programs activities where campers work towards a goal
- Creates inclusive environment within different programs
- Athletics counselors should have ability to lead programs in different areas of sports and recreation: football, soccer, baseball, archery, basketball, kickball, scavenger hunts, stretching, running, hiking, yoga, dance, gaga ball, to name a few

- Provides direct service support to individual campers by reviewing camper files and working with the registration team prior to the camper’s arrival
- Communicate with parents/guardians (as needed) to address the circumstances and resources needed for their campers to thrive in our camp environment
- Work with parents/guardians, campers, and camp staff to establish behavioral plans if needed
- Gives updates to registration team, directors, and parents on camper’s progression throughout the summer sessions
- Equip staff members with the skills and tools needed to support the social, emotional, and physical well-being of our campers through staff development such as:
- Being consistently available to staff for advice, tips, or tools
- Staff Training (orientation)
- Ongoing staff trainings throughout the summer
- Individual meetings with cabin teams on a weekly basis
- Discussing each camper with cabin counselor teams and equipping them with information and tools to help campers be successful throughout the session
- Communicates with Head Counselors daily to touch base and discuss any updates or action steps that are needed for individual campers
- Monitors camper behavior and addresses the needs of those who may need extra support or services over the course of camp program. Including but not limited to:
- Check-ins with camp staff
- Direct observations and interventions as needed
- May be asked to facilitate and help with cabin discussions, disputes, or debriefs
- Works with camp directors to determine whether camp is a safe environment for campers who compromise the safety of themselves or others
- Informs directors’ team of all serious situations involving violence, abuse, bullying, racism, or personnel issues
- Communicates with parents/guardians about any behavioral or mental health concerns that arise while camper is in residence in consultation with the Assistant Director
- Informs directors’ team of all serious situations involving violence, abuse, bullying, racism, or personnel issues
- Monitors and takes note of staff who need extra support or services over the course of the summer
- Communicates with parents/guardians of campers who are new to our residential summer programs
- Manages and keeps camper care records of:
- Daily cabin logs
- Incident Reports
- End-of-session camper reports
- Note taking in CampMinder, our web-based record keeper
- May be asked to interact/file reports with Department of Children and Family Services with director supervision and/or guidance from JBBBSLA Staff
- May accompany camper/staff to ER in case of psychiatric emergency
- Sleeps in a shared residence (Leadership Lodge) with the rest of our leadership team
- Role model to camp counselors and programmatic staff
- Helps create a safe and inclusive camp community
- Upkeep and maintain the camper care center/office throughout the summer program
- Works with leadership team to run and schedule camp events such as all-camp activities, carnivals, talent shows, and banquets
- Follows the leadership schedule created by program coordinator
- Provides high-quality educational, recreational, and enjoyable indoor and outdoor activities for campers throughout their stay at CBW
- Ensures the cleanliness of living quarters and camp site

- Participates in all aspects of camp, including meals, to understand each bunk’s dynamics and be part of the fabric of the camp community
- Participates in regular staff and leadership meetings to discuss progress of campers and bunk dynamics
- Attends, engages in, and completes the camp’s leadership, programmatic, and all-staff trainings unless instructed otherwise
- Provides cabin coverage for other counselors and staff as needed-occasionally requiring you to spend the night in a cabin
- Accepts other reasonable responsibilities deemed necessary by your supervisor to ensure quality service to our camp constituents

- Responsible for supervising all counselors within their unit. This includes:
- Daily check-ins
- Making rounds every night at assigned cabins (planning who will do rounds on days off)
- Support staff in developing and implementing fun, creative, and engaging activities in each cabin
- Providing formal feedback. Once at staff training, another mid-summer, and finally, at the end of the summer. A formal feedback form will be distributed and should be filled out by head counselors
- Assigning days off, hours off, and nights off for staff within your unit
- Train or assist with training counselors in areas of youth development, teamwork, communication, problem solving, programming, values acquisition, and camp policy
- Implement training based on camp community goals
- Empower counselors to set individual and unit goals
- Coach and manage counselors in establishing a safe, fun, and meaningful environment
- Facilitate regular meetings for full unit staff and co-counselors
- Identify and implement motivational strategies for success
- Implement organizational and communication strategies to ensure that expectations are clear
- Supervise the social, emotional, and physical safety of campers and staff in your unit
- Be the frontline of behavior management and support for counselors with camper challenges and successes.
- Communicate with staff regarding camper needs before each session
- Monitor campers throughout their sessions and communicate with leadership team members daily.
- Ensure that campers and staff maintain good hygiene, health, and safety practices

Our Camp Care Coordinators are a part of our summer leadership team at CBW. They are the key members at camp that set a culture of safety and inclusivity within our camp for the children and the rest of our camp community. A successful Camper Care Coordinator collaborates with the directors’ team, camp leadership staff, counselors, nurses, parents/guardians, and external service providers to establish protocols and plans that promote the physical, social, and emotional well-being of our campers and staff. Jewish Educator and Song Leader Job Overview:
The Jewish Educator and Song Leader is a part of our summer leadership team for the Jewish Cultural Session at CBW. Their programming and display of Jewish cultural ideas and values at camp, play an integral role in creating a magical summer camp experience to our Jewish community. Photography Coordinator
Reports to: Program Director
Job Overview and Specific Responsibilities:
The role of the Photography Coordinator is to capture daily life at camp with photography and make those beautiful moments available to camper guardians via our guardian portal and social media. supports and supervises the staff within their department (1 staff member). The Photography Coordinator is a member of the Leadership Staff and are supervised by the Program Director. This position is responsible for ensuring that photos are taken of campers and staff throughout the different program areas, edits photos, and works towards posting photos to Camp Bob Waldorf’s social media accounts. Applicants should have at least one year of previous camp experience and be able to train, supervise, and evaluate counselors. Applicants should have extensive experience working with children and be able to work with various behavior and developmental issues as they arise.

Animal Care Counselor

The Animal Care Counselor is a dual program role at CBW that encompasses two aspects of being a program staff member. The first is the role of a camp counselor, that has its own unique set of responsibilities (listed below). The second is the role of animal care counselor (responsibilities listed below). Both sets of responsibilities make up the role of an Animal Care Counselor, and a successful staff member at CBW.
