Summer Camp Program (mid-June to mid-August – Full Time):

  • Review camper information sheets prior to their arrival for special requirements or considerations

  • Respond promptly to behavioral issues, ensuring a safe and positive camp experience for all campers

  • Develop and follow up on camper behavior improvement plans, offering guidance and support to campers and staff as needed

  • Maintain open communication with parents regarding camper behavior and homesickness concerns

  • Maintain detailed documentation of all communication to camper families

  • Review and follow up on incident reports to ensure appropriate actions are taken

  • Review camper evaluations

  • Distribute camper badges and awards, acknowledging achievements

  • Provide in-cabin support to staff as-needed

  • Collaborate with the leadership team to create weekly cabin assignments

  • Maintain a visible presence around the camp when not in the office, ensuring a proactive response to camper behavior issues

Summer program compensation is $650/week plus room and board.

Off-Season Responsibilities (January to June – approx. 40 hours total):

  • Complete youth mental health first aid training to be better equipped for handling campers' emotional and mental well-being

  • Complete health officer training to provide basic medical assistance when necessary

  • Select campers to participate in staff-in-training and adventure camp programs based on previous camp experience and responses to essay questions

  • Develop training materials related to camper development, group dynamics, and behavior management to be presented during staff orientation

  • Attend and support camper enrollment gatherings or other pre-season events (in-state candidates)

  • Conduct one-on-one meetings with the Director of Camp Services to discuss progress, planning, and improvements (3-4 meetings per year, typically in the spring)

Off-season compensation is $20/hour.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience working in a camp environment or a related field is preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially in dealing with campers and parents

  • Ability to work effectively in a team and individually, demonstrating leadership and problem-solving skills

  • Basic understanding of youth mental health and well-being

  • First aid and CPR certifications (training can be provided during the off-season)

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, or a related field (or comparable combination of education and work experience)

  • Minimum five years of experience working with children
