Camp Skylemar is a summer camp, located in southern Maine. Skylemar offers top-notch instruction in athletics, water activities and outdoor pursuits for 200 boys, ages 7-15. Behind every activity is a focus on what matters more than just participating: sportsmanship, teamwork, understanding, compassion, and kindness. At Skylemar you'll be a leader, teacher, coach, best friend, mentor and hero.
The setting is spectacular and well maintained, overlooking the White Mountains with 200 acres of fields, courts, forest and a beautiful virtually private lake, Trickey Pond.

Camp Skylemar is a well-established (since 1948) recreational summer camp, located in southern Maine. Maine is more than a destination – it’s an experience that will take your breath away. In summer, there’s no better place to be than in Maine. There’s so much to explore and enjoy during your free time, from the beaches to the mountains.
Camp activities include:
- Outdoor Adventure: ropes course, climbing, hiking, camping, and outdoor skills
- Water Sports: swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle-boarding, sailing, water skiing, wakeboarding, wake surfing, water polo, and fishing
- Sports: lacrosse, basketball, baseball, tennis, golf, hockey, archery, football, soccer and volleyball
- Arts, Music & Sciences: photography, theater arts, culinary arts, science, woodshop, art, video production, crafts, piano, graphic design, and guitar.
Camp Skylemar seeks college students, educators, outdoor enthusiasts, coaches, athletes, leaders, mentors, and role models who relish sharing positive lessons and knowledge with boys!
The Employee Experience
Camp Skylemar is a 7- 8 week (including training) summer program in Maine that brings together college students, nurses, coaches, and teachers who want to positively impact the next generation. You'll be mentored and develop dynamic skills within our creative and collaborative community. Staff orientation week and weekly in-service training sessions provide a strong foundation to assume summer responsibilities. You’ll create lifelong friendships and connections.
Staff have access to all Skylemar facilities during free time. This includes a staff-only lounge and day off cabin. We have excellent WIFI all over campus and it's fine to take an online class while you work with us. We have a full medical team, a strength coach, and a workout facility on campus. We have on-campus housing for all staff members. Most male counselors live with a group of 6 or 9 boys and another counselor. The job involves six weeks with the boys. We ask staff to come one to two weeks earlier for orientation and training. The time period would cover from June 15 to August 10.
Internship credit is available. Most educational institutions require prior approval before the start of an internship. Check with your institution to be sure this opportunity meets any requirements.
Ideal Candidate

Skylemar seeks staff who are:
- Creative, energetic, fun, supportive and patient
- Enthusiastic about working with boys ages 7-16

- Able to share the Camp's belief that nothing is more important than safety.
- Comfortable teaching all levels, from the nervous to experienced.

While most staff members are specialists in one or more activities, all staff members are chosen because they have a sincere interest in working with young people. Applicants must have completed at least one year of college.

Free housing and all meals are included.
Employee Perks
Compensation packages start at $3,500, and include free housing, free meals and round-trip travel expenses. We also provide WiFi access, staff clothing, time off and a free laundry service. Internship credit is available. Six paid days off are provided. Skylemar also provides and covers the cost for all necessary certifications and training, including lifeguard, US sailing, CPR/first aid, ropes course instructor, belay certification, archery, wilderness first aid and Maine Trip Leader. Free time provided each day for health and wellness. We offer the ability for staff to work out/train, take on online class, relax, plus full use of all Skylemar facilities.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Camp Skylemar provides a round-trip travel expenses as a part of every staff member's compensation package. We also provide transportation to and from Portland Maine for your arrival and departure. Skylemar has on-campus parking for those staff who drive their own vehicles to camp. All staff live on campus. Skylemar is a very active community so we walk to all activities and meals.

Camp Skylemar is located in the "Lakes Region" of southern Maine, near the town of Naples. It's a beautiful place, 35 miles from the ocean near Portland, Maine, and about 40 miles from the White Mountains in New Hampshire. We are 2 1/2 hours from Boston, Massachusetts. The state of Maine is more than a destination – it’s an experience that will take your breath away. In summer, there's no better place to be than in Maine. There’s so much to explore and enjoy from beaches to mountains during your free time.
