In need of a seasonal chef for a remote lodge in Alaska. This position will start around September 9, 2024 and go through September 19, 2024, with opportunities to work the full season in 2025 which will be from approximately June 10, 2025 to September 30 2025. The lodge is located 100 miles North of Anchorage and is only accessible by aircraft. The lodge specializes in adventure tourism such as fishing, hiking and photography. We have four guest cabins and can house 16 total clients. Employees will be provided accommodations in our staff cabins or main lodge, as well as meals for the duration of their time here.
The chef is expected to prepare three meals per day for our staff and clients. We usually have between 10 and 15 staff members and can house up to 16 guests. We strive to serve high end meals to our clients as part of a luxury lodge experience. We serve breakfast around 8:00am each day. For lunch, we usually send brown bags with our guides/clients as they go fishing or hiking. For dinner, we do a hors d'oeuvres at 6:30pm and dinner at 7:00pm. For dinner each night we serve soup or salad, an entrée and dessert.
Duties include:
Meal preparation and planning
Food inventory and ordering
Food prep for meals
Cooking and plating food
Cleaning stove and keeping all pots, pans and utensils organized
This is an independent position, as you will be expected to prep and cook all meals. Housekeepers will help during meal time by serving, washing dishes and kitchen clean up.
We also welcome the chef to create their own menu each week. Since the lodge is remote, it’s important to be able to plan meals about a week in advance as we get our food shipments in by aircraft about 1-2 times per week. Meals and inventory must be set a week prior to serving.
When clients are not in camp, the chef will prepare an informal breakfast, lunch and dinner for staff members and work on deep cleaning duties.
All staff are welcome to use boats, paddle boards, and other recreational equipment during their time off. We usually take a few staff fishing trips downriver during the course of the summer.
Please check out our website for more information about the lodge (www.chelatna.com).
