Job Description
As the Ceramics Coordinator, you will oversee the entire ceramics program, from teaching classes to managing supplies. You’ll work with campers of all ages, guiding them in creating, glazing, and firing their projects. Your role combines teaching, planning, and maintaining the art studio, making it a vital and rewarding part of the camp experience.
Essential Job Functions:
Plan and lead half-day and full-day ceramics classes for campers.
Teach campers how to use pottery wheels and create castings for glazing.
Oversee afternoon free time sessions for campers to complete projects.
Fire camper creations in our kilns and keep track of each piece.
Maintain a complete inventory of camper projects and ensure their safe handling.
Provide support to Crafts Counselors as needed.
Manage the inventory and ordering of ceramics supplies.
Develop and introduce fun and innovative ceramics projects.
Submit a closing inventory to the Program Director at the end of the summer.
Room and Board
Enjoy provided accommodation and delicious meals amidst the breathtaking beauty of Estes Park. Housing arrangements vary based on position and include cozy cabins and shared living spaces, fostering a sense of camaraderie among staff.
Season & Dates
Our summer camp spans multiple programs, welcoming over 1,200 campers annually. Your commitment will be essential until August 10th, with opportunities through October.
Preferred Skills: Experience teaching or leading groups, especially in the arts. Expertise with ceramics, including kiln operation and use of pottery wheels. Strong organizational skills for managing supplies and camper projects.
Physical Requirements: Must have visual and auditory ability to assess any unsafe environment or hazard. Must have physical ability and strength to lead activities five days a week, and work with/lift ceramics materials as needed.
Salary: The base salary for the Ceramics Coordinator position is $425/week.
