Are you passionate about horses and ready to guide campers through an unforgettable equestrian adventure? Cheley Colorado Camps is seeking dedicated Horseback Riding Counselors to join our vibrant community nestled in Estes Park, CO. As part of our esteemed team, you'll impart horsemanship skills, foster a love for riding, and create cherished memories for campers aged 9-17. Job Description
As a Horseback Riding Counselor, you'll be instrumental in teaching horsemanship basics, riding techniques, and horse care to campers of varying skill levels. From all-day trail rides to overnight trips, you'll engage campers in safe and enjoyable equestrian activities across different units. Collaborating closely with the Ranch Manager and Barn Crew, you'll prioritize camper and horse safety while ensuring a fun and educational experience. CPR/WFA certification is required.

Essential Job Functions:

  • While your first responsibility is that of a counselor, you are also part of the horse program and need to be willing and able to balance both requirements.

  • Ride five days per week with all-day, combined half-day rides, instructional ring rides, multi-day overnight rides (older units), and horse packing on mountain trails (TEs).

  • Assist campers with earning their horseback riding patch.

  • Teaching fundamentals of horsemanship, western riding, and horse care.

Room and Board
Enjoy provided accommodation and delicious meals amidst the breathtaking beauty of Estes Park. Housing arrangements vary based on position and include cozy cabins and shared living spaces, fostering a sense of camaraderie among staff.

Season & Dates
Our summer camp spans multiple programs, welcoming over 1,200 campers annually. Your commitment will be essential until August 10th, with opportunities through October, guiding campers through a transformative journey amidst the Rockies.

Preferred Skills: Because of the level of riding and horsemanship at Cheley Colorado Camps, applicants should have horsemanship and riding skills. We provide wranglers with extensive training so our counselors can provide our campers with a beautiful and memorable riding and horsemanship experience. Ability and patience to teach campers while working with horses simultaneously. 

Physical Requirements: Must have visual and auditory ability to assess any unsafe environment or hazard. Must have physical ability and strength to lead activities five days a week, and to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid.
