Come spend your summer with us at the Chilkoot Trail Outpost in Dyea, Alaska just outside of Skagway!

We are looking to increase our crew out at the Outpost for the 2025 season. This small town lodging operation provides guests with an simple, relaxing yet fulling experience to complete their trip to Skagway and Dyea. Located approximately 7 miles from the main town area (Skagway), the Outpost allows guests to experience the tours and chaos offered in Skagway but sleep in the tranquility found in the forests and outdoors that still make up Dyea. During the summer, bears frequent the area and there is also easy access to the Dyea flats, Taiya River, Nelson's Slough, West Creek and the famous Chilkoot Trail.

As a small operation, we are looking for a reliable, clean and efficient individual that will play multiple roles at the facility. What you can expect as an Outpost Employee? Work includes: Taking reservations, checking people in, cleaning rooms and dining areas, prepping and cooking breakfast and our light lunch menu, serving food and drinks, providing customer service, performing basic grounds keeping/ outdoor cleaning, and booking guests on tours. What else? Our employees are an integral part to our operations, we appreciate feedback and perspective from employees to implement and integrate new ways of doing what we do. We hope our employees find the work and the company fulfilling, part of a family and more than just temporary, seasonal work. 

Hours to expect? The Lodge is open from 7am-7pm every day. Work shifts generally run 9 hours (with lunch and break times) between 5am-9pm depending on guest needs. When fully staffed, employees should expect to work 40 hours a week with some overtime and 2 days off but more overtime may be available depending on our ability to hire. Skagway also has many job opportunities in the Summer and additional work can be found.

What is available? Full time or part time work.

Housing? We do not have employee housing at this moment but we do have 2-3 hook ups for RVS or Campers that includes wifi access and free laundry for $350/ month. Dogs/ Cats/ Pets are not allowed in the lodge or the cabins but we will consider allowing employee pets on the property for those who's campers are there. Additionally, because we are a visual, customer service oriented facility, campers parked on site must be clean, have good appears and be in fully functional order. 

One other thing to note is that we are 7 miles from Skagway. Having your own car available to get to/from the facility or to town is preferred though we may be able to make a vehicle available weekly for grocery runs and to attend events. We also have bikes available for employees to use to cruise around Dyea (it's a long bike ride into town).
