River Guide

 Deschutes River Adventures runs single day and multi-day whitewater rafting trips out of Maupin, OR on the Deschutes River. We are gearing up for a busy 2025 season. Both guides with experience and those interested in learning to guide are encouraged to apply. Our guide training program is required for all new staff and will help you develop the whitewater skills and knowledge you’ll need to successfully navigate class III and IV rivers and will help you learn the operations of our busy rafting company.

River guides are a crucial part of the success of DRA. We look to hire folks who are responsible, energetic, have a positive attitude, embrace flexibility, can meet the physical demands of the job, and enjoy working hard in a beautiful outdoor setting. 

 The position requires collaboration with co-workers and managers to ensure a smooth planning, packing and guiding process for all of our trips. An ideal river guide candidate is friendly, can conversate easily, has a history of river trips (private or commercial), or other water-focused outdoor experiences. We look to hire people who will realize the importance of Deschutes River Adventures' goals of excellent guest service, prioritizing safety, and an overall commitment to excellence in our work. We are a highly organized well well-oiled machine when it comes to our guided river trip schedule and daily operations.

Priority will be given to the candidate with the right availability and previous outdoor experience. Seasonal housing and some meals are provided. 

Requirements:

• Valid Driver’s License

• Current First Aid / CPR (we can help you renew)

• Swiftwater Training 1 (preferred)

• Clear driving record

• 18 y/o or older

• Timeliness

• Flexibility 

• Follow Instructions 

• Helpful and positive attitude

• Professionalism on the river and in the shop at all time

• Ability to do a physically demanding job
