    Job Summary:
    Control front office operations of their assigned lodge/hotel and set the standards for desk organization and function, resulting in quality guest service.

    Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
    Pay: $45,000+ per year

    Responsibilities

    • Continually focus on providing exceptional guest service as a primary goal, both in how work is conducted and when interacting with guests; supervise staff to ensure they adhere to the established standards.
    • Supervise staff daily and constantly evaluate job performance of Bell staff, Guest Service Agents, Lead Agents, Assistant Guest Service Manager.
    • Schedule for front desk and bell coverage according to business demands in an effort to establish an efficient and economical operation.
    • Handle guest accounts properly including posting of charges, and collection of payment.
    • Coordinate the training of new employees and the continual coaching of front desk staff. Conduct annual reviews for assigned staff and administer corrective action as necessary.
    • Hold team members accountable throughout proactive and professional progressive discipline and coaching opportunities to improve overall experience at unit.
    • Track employee attendance as needed.
    • Follow established front desk procedures in carrying out of duties. Handle guest accounts properly including posting of charges, and collection of payment.
    • Follow Xanterra security policies and procedures in the handling and divulging of all company and guest information. Maintain strict guest security in controlling keys and issuing keys.
    • Supervise and control rooms throughout shift to prevent double bookings, sleepers, and other room errors, and to maintain room control. Report out of order rooms to Maintenance and Rooms Department Management.
    • Maintain the shift log and respond to issues and occurrences noted.
    • Monitor cash flow and credit operations of the desk while maintaining accuracy in account handling and reconciling any discrepancies.
    • Maintain and uphold all Front of the House operations while setting the standards of high guest service.
    • Ensure that assigned staff is adhering to all Xanterra South Rim and NPS policies and procedures, including, but not limited to Lost & Found, Cash Handling, Risk, Sustainability, etc. standards.
    • Use a sense of discretion and professionalism when handling guest complaints, make adjustments on accounts when warranted.
    • Maintain open communications between all departments, Rooms Office and unit staff/management members to ensure issues are reported and resolved.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Three years rooms, lodging or operation management experience in a high volume, high occupancy large scale resort/hotel.
    • Ability to direct new personnel and maintain an on-going training program.
    • Ability to accommodate diverse guest clientele in a variety of situations.
    • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication; problem solving and analytical skills.
    • Possess valid Arizona Driver’s License and comply with Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.

    Responsibilities

    • To provide Grand Canyon National Park guests with a narrated, thematic experience that allows guests to make personal connections to the resources of the Park while safely transporting guests on a DOT regulated Tour Bus.
    • Use established Primary Park Themes to provide guests of Grand Canyon National Park and Grand Canyon Railway with a compelling link between the tangible and visible resources found along the Grand Canyon South Rim with the intangible and inherent meanings found within those resources in a way that allows the guest to make their own connections to the place.
    • Using effective interpretive techniques and a thematic narrative to assist the National Park Service in imparting the mission, vision, purpose, and goals of Grand Canyon National Park to our guests.
    • Provide knowledgeable, accurate, and resourced information on Xanterra South Rim services and facilities to passengers, guests and visitors as requested.
    • Responsible for a clean and neat appearance in the prescribed uniform.
    • Provide for the safety of all clients and adhere to all Risk management policies while performing tasks.
    • Drive village taxi service as scheduled by dispatch.
    • Utilize proper radio communications at all times.
    • Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle.
    • Conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle, including oil, radiator fluid levels, plug in cords and tires.
    • Report any vehicle maintenance or performance problems to Tour Bus Manager or Dispatcher on Duty immediately.
    • Comply with all Federal Motor Carrier safety regulations.
    • Successfully complete the Xanterra Defensive Driving Course.
    • Report any motor vehicle accident, regardless of how minor, immediately to Dispatcher on duty.
    • Continuous improvement for identified areas of the Interpretive Tour Guide audits performed by Xanterra South Rim LLC and NPS.
    • Assists co-workers with tasks and shares commentary information.
    • Safe and proper operation of company equipment in all weather conditions.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to communicate in a clear and engaging manner.
    • Good reading, comprehension and organizational skills to research tour information and compile into an effective thematic narrative.
    • NAI-CIG certification desirable, or attend and successfully complete the course as it is made available through the Xanterra training department.
    • Must meet all U.S. Department of Transportation qualifications as mandated by FMCSR Sections 383 and 391 including, but not limited to:
    • Must be 21 years of age or older.
    • Possess a Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with Passenger Endorsement and convert to Arizona within 1 year.
    • Possess a required Department of Transportation physical exam card.
    • Pass mandated Xanterra Transportation Department driving skills test.
    • Agree to submit to Department of Transportation mandated substance abuse testing including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post accident.
    • Comply with all ongoing and follow-up of yearly qualification file requirements.
    • Able to meet all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations for a commercial Motor Coach/Bus operator.
    • Ability to understand and demonstrate the proper 10 codes & two-way radio communication.

    • Line Cook I
      • At least 1 year of previous cooking experience in high-volume a la carte or batch production settings, including prep, pantry, and dish tasks.
      • Thorough knowledge and experience with all stations and equipment in the kitchen.
      • Ability to produce items to standard following written and oral directions on menu recipe(s).
      • Ability to pass ServeSafe HACCP food sanitation course.
      • Ability to carry out duties on any station in the kitchen.
      • Safe and proficient knife handling skills, with knowledge of various cutting styles.
      • Good verbal communication skills and ability to train personnel in basic cooking techniques.
    • Line Cook II
      • At least 6 months previous cooking experience on different line stations or batch cooking experience in high volume kitchens.
      • Basic knowledge of all production areas of the kitchen.
      • Safe and proficient knife handling skills, with knowledge of various cutting styles.
      • Knowledge of ServeSafe HACCP food sanitation program with ability to apply necessary portions of program.
    • Line Cook III
      • Previous kitchen experience with some cooking experience on a line station or batch cooking.
      • Basic knowledge of the production areas of the kitchen and equipment such as slicers, steamers, and kettles.
      • Safe and proficient knife handling skills.
      • Basic knowledge of ServeSafe HACCP food sanitation program with ability to apply necessary portions of program.
    • All cooks must be available for evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.
    • Must be able to pass ServSafe food handler training.

    Physical Requirements include:

    • Physical ability to lift thirty pounds of food product and carry it twenty-five feet minimum.
    • Physical ability to stand for long periods of time and work in high temperatures.

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure the safety and security of all Xanterra South Rim properties by making at least two checks of the patrol zones per shift.
    • Assist National Park Service Law Enforcement on scene, and follow instructions/directives given by scene commander.
    • Maintain a professional working relationship with National Park Service Law Enforcement.
    • Resolve situations within your control and within guidelines established by Risk Management, the Security Department and National Park Service Law Enforcement.
    • Escort Accounting personnel on cash runs and deposit runs, providing security escort service to the Accounting personnel.
    • Compile daily logs and write incident reports in timely and accurate manner, using department approved software.
    • Interact with Housing Department personnel in making rounds through employee housing areas, and assisting as needed and/or requested.
    • Enroll, attend and successfully complete ongoing training classes as determined by the Security Lieutenant and the Fire & Security Captain.
    • Perform BAT and Urinalysis testing on employees per company policy as needed.
    • Adhere to all safety, Risk Management and environmental policies.
    • May be called upon to assist in the handling, storage and/or disposal of hazardous materials.
    • Ability to adapt to a 24/7 rotating schedule with shifts of 10 and 12 hour duration.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers License and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.
    • Must be at least twenty-one years of age at time of hire.

    Responsibilities

    • Respond to fire calls in Grand Canyon Village, as well as for any fires throughout the South Rim area. Investigate and/or report the incident working within NPS protocols.

    • Responsible for preventive maintenance, testing and record keeping for all fire alarm and suppression systems on the property as required by code.
    • Identify and resolve issues with fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA and National Park Service standards.
    • Respond to all Trouble alarms, resolving the issues quickly and returning systems to full operation.
    • Install replacement fire alarm and suppression system components.
    • Responsible for initiation of material orders, maintenance of inventories and accounting for all materials and tools.
    • Coordinate visits with outside contractors to complete complex repairs and new installations.
    • Comply with all safety, risk management, and environmental policies related to the position.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of fire alarm and fire suppression system operation.
    • Knowledge of applicable codes for fire alarm and suppression systems.
    • Must be familiar with the use of materials and equipment common to the trade.
    • Know basic electrical and electronic circuitry principles as they apply to fire alarm systems and the ability to stay current with new technology.
    • Must have ability to identify code and equipment deficiencies and recommend proper corrective action.

    Responsibilities

    • Complete work orders and repairs in a timely and thorough manner, maintaining cost effectiveness in repairs for industrial, kitchen and residential electrical and gas fired equipment and facilities.
    • Evaluate condition of equipment and make recommendations for repair or replacement. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus; electrical and gas components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of the malfunction and correct the problem. Advise management regarding safety and cost effectiveness of equipment operation.
    • Oversee completion and documentation of work orders, ensuring accuracy and detail with regard to materials, labor, and equipment.
    • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
    • Perform preventive scheduled maintenance on electrical and gas fired equipment as directed.
    • Perform all work with guest service in mind, keeping equipment and operational down time to a minimum.
    • Assist with installation of electrical and gas fired equipment.
    • Adhere to all aspects of the National Electrical Code.
    • Work from ladders, scaffolds, vertical boom lift, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical and gas fired equipment.
    • Adhere to all safety, risk management, and environmental policies and procedures.
    • Assist in the training and development of lower Electrician grades. This would include installation of motors, transformers, circuit breakers and other devices related to electrical and gas fired appliances/equipment; diagnosing and maintaining other electrical and gas fired equipment in a safe manner.
    • Required to attend the following Xanterra courses within 3 months: (1) LOTO, (2) Confined Space, (3) Electrical Safety, (4) Personal Protective Equipment, (4) Ladder Safety, (5) Defensive Driving (6) Fall Protection (7) Other related safety training pertinent to the position.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Four years experience as an Electrician.
    • Ability to work with voltages ranging from 0-480 volts (1200k volts where applicable), which includes single phase and three phase.
    • Possess working knowledge on National Electrical Code.
    • Ability to read, comprehend and draw schematics and diagrams.
    • Ability to distinguish between “delta” and “Y” connected transformers.
    • Ability to give an accurate estimate of time and material necessary for a given project.
    • Ability to trouble-shoot and repair control circuits using a variety of testing equipment including ammeters, multimeter's, oscilloscopes and test lamps.
    • Ability to trouble-shoot and repair commercial and residential electrical and gas fired kitchen equipment and appliances.

    Responsibilities

    • Catch and saddle designated mules, grain and groom mules while saddling.
    • Check equipment each day before saddling; report any defective equipment to Livery Management.
    • Assist other mule guides in keeping the barn and corral clean.
    • Assist with daily feeding of mules.
    • Put mules up according to procedures, properly store saddles/tack.
    • Help load/unload guests onto mules at all load/unload points along the ride. Check equipment before loading guests at all points.
    • Always be aware of the string on the trail, pay close attention to riders, keep string together, keep rider safety at the forefront at all times.
    • Provide interpretive information about the Grand Canyon throughout the ride.
    • Pay attention to trail conditions, pending weather conditions, trail hazards, other trail issues that may pose a danger to the mules, mule guides and/or riders.
    • Communicate via two-way radio any accidents to mules or riders, and/or other important information.
    • Check all mule guide gear and make certain that such gear is equipped with all attachments, such as first aid emergency kits, and canteens.
    • Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies while performing tasks.
    • Overnight stays at Phantom Ranch may be required from time to time. Based on the mixed-gender nature of the Trail crews and limited employee housing at the bottom of the Canyon, employees may be required to share room accommodations with team members of the opposite sex. Employees will have access to gender-specific shower and restroom facilities, but will be expected to sleep in a co-ed bunk house.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • At least one year of experience handling horses or mules and proven equestrian skills.
    • Good verbal communication skills with ability to give instructions to riders, and provide interpretive information about the Grand Canyon.
    • Must be able to become certified in CPR, and basic first aid.
    • Must have own saddle and tack.
    • Experience with, or ability to learn two-way radio communications.
    • Selected candidates will be required to take a student ride to Phantom Ranch to make sure they can handle the depth, heat and terrain of the Canyon. The student ride will be free, but candidate travel expenses and lodging while here are not included.
