Responsibilities:
Assists in managing the hotel maintenance activities, operations, and staff. Responsible for the employment, supervision, performance management, salary administration, discipline, and training of directly assigned personnel.
Oversees and performs preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment, facilities structures, and grounds.
Observes operation of facility equipment, updating logs and documenting information.
Applies knowledge of equipment, systems, and facilities maintenance; carpentry; heating and air conditioning systems; and grounds maintenance to repair or adjust as necessary to obtain safe and efficient operations.
Contributes effectively to a positive employee experience while maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.
Supports safety protocols and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in all work and storage spaces.
Analyzes and prepares reports for management. Assists in the preparation of the annual departmental budget.
Maintains a broad working knowledge of materials, systems, and code requirements related to maintenance of facilities. You will need the knowledge of power and hand tools used in facilities maintenance; recordkeeping techniques and regulations, including use of automated record systems; OSHA workplace health and safety standards and procedures; use of computers to use automated recordkeeping tools, automated system controls, and email; customer service practices.
Trains others on a variety of tools and power equipment; plans and coordinates work; tracks and plans preventative maintenance work; maintains records and reports in computerized and written formats, compliant with regulatory requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High School completion or equivalent required. Professional level of knowledge in facilities maintenance management equivalent to that which would be acquired through the completion of some college or an associate degree preferred. Demonstration of directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirement.
Three years of progressively responsible positions in hotel property or facilities maintenance. Journeyman experience, post-secondary technical certification, or license in carpentry, electrical, mechanical plumbing, or HVAC systems is preferred.
OIT and wastewater, Fireman’s class stationary boiler’s license is preferred.
Proficiency in the use of computer business applications, with working knowledge of computerized maintenance systems. Working knowledge of computer programs to maintain logs, inventories and purchasing records; respond to service requests and emails; monitor and manage work orders. The ability to effectively use email and automated calendaring systems; make arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately; learn and apply health and safety regulations; work independently with minimal supervision; understand and follow oral and written directions; optimize efficiencies provided by automated maintenance management and service request tools; work from blueprints, shop drawings and sketches; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Wrist, hand, and finger dexterity is required to operate various equipment and materials.
Must be able to frequently bend, stand, kneel, climb ladders, reach below and above shoulders, and crawl.
This role requires regular movement throughout company facilities, may need to stand for long periods of time.
The ability to lift 60 lbs./23 kg and occasionally move up to 100 lbs.
Must be comfortable to work both inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery. May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, noise, and temperature extremes.
Must be able to travel up-to 25%.
Forklift driver certification is required within six months of employment (in-house). Random drug screening and a valid driver’s license for the operation of a motor vehicle with a clean driving record for the past three years.
Ability to clearly communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees, management, and customers
The ability to support and comply with all company policies, procedures, guidelines, and safety standards, both at work and in housing (if applicable).
Must be able to work beyond normal business hours, including a different shift. Weekend hours may be required occasionally to support business needs, projects, and/or operations.
