Hatcher Pass Castle is looking for a lodge host! We are an off-the-grid castle located on Hatcher Pass, Alaska. Hatcher Pass is famous in summer time for hiking, off-roading, hunting, and berry picking. Fishing is a short 20mins drive down the mountain. Wintertime is prime for snowmobiling, backcountry skiing, and snowshoeing. We are on the road system the property is accessible by car year round. The closest large town is about 1hr away, closest gas station is about 25 minutes away.
We offer lodging, ATV tours, snowmobile tours, northern light tours and transportation for customers. This role will be mostly be responsible for hosting our lodging guests & delivering great customer service.
Responsibilities:
Cook meals 2-3 times a day.
Clean castle rooms after customers check out.
Get cooking and cleaning supplies for the property.
Check in tour customers, get them fitted with appropriate gear.
Help with guest communication which includes answer the phone for ATV tours and Castle guests.
Pick customers up from nearby towns (Anchorage/Wasilla/Talkeetna).
Help with northern light tours with transportation, customer check-in, provide basic northern light education for customers.
Help with property maintenance (for example fill the boiler with wood, fill the generator, snow removal etc.)
The ideal candidate would have most of the following skills and experience:
Housekeeping and cooking skills
Great customer service, able to hold a 10 minute conversation with any stranger comfortably
Must be able to lift 60lbs
Clean driving record, have experience driving in snow/icy conditions
Outgoing, excellent interpersonal skills
Responsible, punctual, team player (everyone gets along here, we hope to find another like minded person)
Must be able to proficiently use a smart phone/computer to help with guest communications. email, apps etc.
Able to work some nights for Northern Light tours
Property maintenance/carpentry skills are preferred but not required
Compensation:
Room and board. An extra $100 a week for food included for full time staff. (40/hrs a week). Full time staff will be paid $2000 a month +$400 food stipend for 40hrs a week. Any overtime will be paid at $20/hr. Weekly pay period.
