We are pleased that you want to spend your summer with us to help us attain our goal of providing quality customer service to all of our guests.
Outgoing & Friendly – You will be around guests all day, every day.
Professional – A neat appearance and clean lifestyle.
Positive Attitude – Always polite and courteous with guests and staff members.
Team Player – Our small group of employees are more like a family. For four months, we work, eat, sleep, and play together in very close quarters. You must be able to get along with your co-workers at all times.
Attendance & Work Ethic – Our summer season is short and very busy. All employees must report to work on time, all the time. There will be days that you are asked to work more than your scheduled shift.
Honest and Trustworthy – Our staff is the face of Husky Homestead. We need employees that we can trust with our guests, our dogs, our vehicles and equipment, and our livelihood.
Please keep in mind that you will be living and working at our Husky Homestead location. It can be challenging to separate the work environment from the living environment and delineate the importance of establishing the difference between a working relationship and personal relationships. For the right adventurous person, summers at Husky Homestead could be just the beginning!
HOUSING
Husky Homestead staff can live at our housing site in the McKinley Village area. We have private single cabins, as well as several double occupancy cabins. All cabins have heat, electricity and wireless internet. Our cabins are in close proximity to our commons area that has two bathrooms and free laundry facilities. The commons area also has several couches, a TV with HDMI connection, and DVD player. Free wireless internet is available throughout the property.
Housing costs vary depending on whether it requires your use of our shared commons area, or whether it has a private kitchen/bath. Rent is auto-deducted from your paycheck. We do not provide meal plans for employees, but do provide pick-up for groceries in Fairbanks that are ordered online with the grocer. There are several restaurants in the area, and two small locally owned grocery stores (one is ~20 miles north of us in Healy).
PLAY OUTSIDE
As an employee of Husky Homestead, you may receive discounted or complimentary tours with many of the other local Denali activities: atv adventures in the wilderness, whitewater rafting on the Nenana River, helicopter or fixed-wing flightseeing to Denali or to a glacier for a landing, zip lining, fly fishing excursions, Jeep tours on the beautiful Denali Highway or along the northern boundary of the Park, bus or hiking tours into Denali National Park, mountain biking, kayaking, etc. There are also other things to keep you busy: hiking, camping, photography, berry picking, etc. If you enjoy being outdoors, we’ve got a lot of space for you to play!
