    Position Summary:

    Guest Services Representatives ensure guests meet the required excursion requirements, ensure guests sign excursion waivers (as required), announce excursion departures, escort guests to their tour vehicle, and ensure timely departures of assigned tours.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles: Best, Authentic, and Profitable Tour Destination
    • Provide excellent customer service to all Icy Strait Point guests.
    • Provide guests with information about all tours available at Icy Strait Point
    • Conduct functions, such as:
      • Checking guests’ weight
      • Verifying driver’s license information
      • Ensuring guests fill out waivers, as required.
      • Secure bag check area
      • Other duties as assigned.
    • Escort guests to tour vehicles and ensure timely tour departure.
    • Communicate clearly with tour guides, drivers, supervisors and management.
    • Promote other Icy Strait Point venues, distribute literature and/or sell merchandise.
    • Work as greeters to welcome guests and conduct guest orientations.
    • Participate in all required trainings, including cross training for Tour Sales Representative and Gondola Operator.
    • Assist within programs wherever needed.

    Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

    • Must have Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate with ISP guests and others in a professional, friendly and accurate manner. 
    • Prefer experience in the tourism/visitor industry.
    • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively.
    • Must be able to work in a team environment.
    • Adequate knowledge or willingness to learn about Tlingit culture.
    • Guest Service Representatives must be able to learn, retain and relay excursion information. 
    • Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.

    Care Cart Driver

    $18.00 / hour

    Seasonal Position (April to September 2025)

    Reports to the Jeep and ATV Supervisor

    Care Cart Driver transports cruise guests and non-cruise guests to various locations at Icy Strait Point. The driver will ensure guests that have mobility issues are the priority to be transported to different locations on site. The driver is also responsible for remembering the route for the cart and to respond calls in a timely manner.

    • Provide excellent customer service to all IPS guests
    • Provide guests with general information about ISP
    • Participate in all required trainings

    • Work as greeters to welcome guests and conduct guest orientations
    • Stand while loading passengers to assist as needed and follow all safety guidelines
    • Assist within programs wherever needed

    Requirements:

    • Adequate knowledge or willingness to learn about Tlingit culture
    • Valid Driver’s license

    Culture Program Actor

    Actors provide a leadership role as well as interpretation and narration for guests attending various theater productions. Actors will be cross trained to play all parts in Icy Strait Point Theater Productions and may be required to switch actor assignment schedule if necessary.

    • Provide guests with information about the scenery, wildlife, history, culture and geography

    Requirements:

    • Adequate knowledge or willingness to learn about Tlingit culture

    Employee Shuttle Bus Driver

    $28.00 / hour

    Shuttle Bus Driver

     

    Reports to:      Housing Manager

    Category:       Seasonal for 2025 (March - October)

    Salary Range:  $28 per hour with season bonus potential. 

     

    Summary:

    The Shuttle Bus Driver is responsible for transporting employees to and from Icy Strait Point in a split shift of morning and evening. Hours will vary depending on the needs of Icy Strait Point and the schedules of Icy Strait Point Employees.

     

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles: Best, Authentic and Profitable Tour Destination.
    • Employee Bus Drivers work split shifts bringing employees to work very early in the morning and then bringing them home after work, at times very late into the evening.  Often 6-7 days a week during July & August.  
    • Bring employees and guests from the airport to housing and back to the airport when its time for them to go home.  
    • Drive in a SAFE, responsible manner always and keep all equipment in SAFE condition following all laws and regulations.        
    • Document safety checks in our automated system.
    • Maintain a CDL with passenger endorsement. 
    • Deliver a first-class experience to all employees, guests and visitors.
    • Follow all directives and regulations for keeping and maintaining buses in proper operating mode.
    • Clean inside and outside of vehicles as needed and scheduled.
    • Complete pre- and post-vehicle inspection checklist.
    • Communicate with Compliance Specialist when vehicle needs additional maintenance.
    • Provide an orientation for the new employee using a checklist provided. 
    • Learn and impart knowledge to guests of all that Icy Strait Point has to offer, including history, tours, food and beverage venues, retail products and venues, what’s available in town, etc.
    • Assist employees and guests who need or request assistance in getting on/off bus.
    • Participate in all required training.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Adequate knowledge or willingness to learn about Tlingit culture
    • Valid Driver’s license and CDL License with passenger endorsement
    • Must pass a drug test before being hired for DOT compliance

    Gondola Attendant

    Reports to:      Lead Gondola Attendant

    Position Summary:

    Gondola Attendant are responsible for the safety of our guests while they are loading, riding, and unloading our gondola cabins, and responsible for making positive contact with ISP guests.  You will be spending your days outside.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles: Best, Authentic, and Profitable Tour Destination
    • Provide excellent customer service to all Icy Strait Point guests, including tours.
    • Load and unload guests on the different gondola stations, aiding mobility challenged guests in the safe loading/unloading into the cabins.
    • Inform Operator or Supervisor of abnormal or unusual conditions that may adversely affect the safety of the gondola operation.
    • Handle crowd control in gondola queue areas.
    • Monitors and controls gondola unload area.
    • Maintain cleanliness on loading and off-loading area and maze throughout the day.
    • Ensure all shut-down procedures are followed, no passengers left on gondola, and that cabins is ready to operate next day.
    • Participate in all required trainings, including cross training for Guest Representative and Tour Sales Representative.
    • Promote other Icy Strait Point venues, distribute literature and/or sell merchandise.
    • Assist within programs wherever needed.

    Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

    • Willing to work outdoors, including during inclement weather.
    • Must have good customer service skills and the ability to communicate with ISP guests and others in a professional, friendly and accurate manner. 
    • Able to stand for long periods of time – required.
    • Must be safety conscious and able to make quick decisions.
    • Guest Service Representatives must be able to learn, retain and relay excursion information. 
    • Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
    • 1+ years’ experience with intermediate ski/ride skills preferred.

    Jeep and ATV Guide

    Position Summary:

    Icy Strait Point Guides provide a leadership role as well as interpretation and narration for guests departing on Excursions. ATV and Jeep Guides will be cross trained to lead all tours associated with Icy Strait Point and may be required to switch excursion assignment schedule if necessary.  ATV and Jeep Guides are responsible for keeping all vehicles clean and tour ready.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles: BAP: Best, Authentic, Profitable
    • Safely guide guests across uneven graveled road through the Tongass National Forest.
    • Perform lead guide, chase guide, and guest representative duties as assigned.
    • Care for, clean and maintain ISP equipment, vehicles and facilities in a neat, properly functioning, organized and presentable manner.
    • Provide guests with information about the scenery, wildlife, history, culture and geography.
    • Provide excellent customer service to all IPS guests.
    • Conduct Jeep and/or ATV pre and post trip inspections.
    • Promote other ISP venues, distribute ISP literature and/or sell ISP merchandise.

    • Maintain a current First Aid/CPR certification.

    • Must have previous guide experience.
    • Previous outdoor leadership experience is preferred.
    • Must have a driver's license with no restrictions and be comfortable driving on graveled roads.
    • Awareness of motor vehicles will be beneficial.
    • Must be in good physical condition, and be able to preform all required tasks, from guiding to cleaning the equipment.

    Icy Strait Point Sea Kayak Guides provide a leadership role as well as interpretation and narration for guests departing on sea kayak excursions.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles: BAP: Best, Authentic, Profitable
    • Safely guide guests by kayak in a dynamic marine environment.
    • Perform lead guide, chase guide, outfitter and safety boat duties as assigned.
    • Care for and maintain ISP equipment, vehicles and facilities in a neat, properly functioning, organized and presentable manner.
    • Provide guests with information about the scenery, wildlife, history, culture and geography.
    • Provide excellent customer service to all IPS guests.
    • Participate in all required trainings.
    • Maintain a current First Aid/CPR certification.
    • Guides will be cross trained to lead all tours associated with Icy Strait Point and may be required to switch excursion assignment schedule if necessary.

    Requirements:

    • Must have previous kayaking and/or guide experience.
    • Previous outdoor leadership experience a plus
    • Must be a competent swimmer.
    • Must be in good physical condition, able to lift kayaks comfortably (40-80 lbs), and work outside during cold and wet conditions of Southeast Alaska weather.
    • Adequate knowledge or willingness to learn about Tlingit culture.
    • Must have good customer service skills.

    Zipline Operator

    $18.00 / hour

     

    This position requires authorization to work in the US without sponsorship.  

    Work on Chichagoff Island as its home to more brown bears than humans, its a place where eagles soar overhead and whales are regularly seen just offshore. Surrounded by towering rainforest and set against the backdrop of mist-shrouded mountains, guests can truly immerse themselves in our wilderness environment.

    Pay is $18 an hour plus a season completion bonus of $1200.


    Seasonal (April - October 2025 in Hoonah, Alaska)  

    Summary:

    Zip Rider Operator is to ensure that riders are safely prepared to participate in the world’s largest Zip Rider. Icy Strait Point’s Zip Rider is 1,300’ high, over a mile long, moves at speeds up to 60mph and takes approximately 90 seconds from top to the bottom. It’s a rush! There is the “top tower,” where guests arrive by means of a scenic gondola ride before being securely strapped into the harness seat by you, the operator, and there is the “bottom tower” where guests are unstrapped by you, the operator.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Always keep safety foremost in your mind and actions when on the job.
    • Duties & Responsibilities specific to the Zip Line
      1. Securely strap guests into harness seat at start of ride and out of harness seat at end of ride. 
      2. Also use a two-check process at the top tower.  One person to secure and one to double check secure of guest.  
      3. From “bottom tower” at end of ride, return harnesses to “top tower.”
      4. From “top tower” retrieve returned harnesses for start of next ride.
    • Learn and impart knowledge to guests of all that Icy Strait Point has to offer, including history, tours, food and beverage venues, retail products and venues.

    Requirements:

    Bear Safety

    $19.00 / hour

    The overriding responsibility of a bear safety employee is to SAFELY provide a high-quality experience for anyone being transported by bus and on foot at the Spasski Bear Trail, or the ISP Hiking Trail. Bear Safety staff are expected to be able to provide interpretation and narration for guests on bear excursions and answer occasional questions.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct all activities and decisions according to Icy Strait Point’s guiding principles: Best, Authentic and Profitable Tour Destination.
    • Always act in a SAFE, responsible manner and keep all equipment in SAFE condition.
    • Deliver a first-class experience to all guests and visitors.
    • Effective public speaking when addressing guests, crew or the public.
    • Learn and impart knowledge to guests and do site promotion of Icy Strait Point
    • Provide excellent customer service to all ISP guests.
    • Ensure the safety of all guests on tours.
    • Ability to take charge of a crowd in an emergency.

    Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

    • Have or be able to attain First Aid/CPR certification.
    • Driver’s License with clean driving record preferred
    • Must be insurable with Icy Strait Point (DUI, DWI, negligent or reckless driving citations within the past 5 years is uninsurable).
    • Firearm knowledge and experience
    • Pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion of drug and alcohol testing.

    Public Area Attendant

    Keeps all public facilities in a neat and clean condition. Public area attendant promotes a positive image of the site to guests and must be pleasant, honest, friendly and should also able to address guest requests and problems. We are looking for someone to start in March and work until the end of the season, Oct 27th. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Cleans interior of buildings, outside site spaces and restrooms.
    • Empties ashtrays and urns.
    • Cut wood and keep fires going on site
    • Polishes furniture and fixtures.
    • Keeps the front of the building and site free from trash.
    • Washes walls and ceilings, moves and arranges furniture.
    • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.
    • Dust and polishes metal work.
    • To perform daily assigned tasks in toilets, buildings, trash, sites, etc.
    • To clean and maintain all equipment daily.
    • To follow up a special cleaning program
    • To report maintenance issues to supervisor immediately.
    • To assist Guest in Public Areas when required.
    • To have good knowledge of all facilities, hours of operation, Restaurants, shops and function rooms.
    • Post caution signs as and when required.
    • Responsible to follow departmental policies and procedures.
    • Responsible for upkeep of all the equipment which he is using i.e., Vacuum cleaner, trolleys, Scrubbing machine.
    • Responsible for maintaining a time schedule for cleaning of their areas.
    • Responsible for spring/winter cleaning of their area as per the schedule is given to them.

    The Shuttle Bus Driver is responsible for transporting employees to and from Icy Strait Point in a split shift of morning and evening. Hours will vary depending on the needs of Icy Strait Point and the schedules of Icy Strait Point Employees.

    • Employee Bus Drivers work split shifts bringing employees to work very early in the morning and then bringing them home after work, at times very late into the evening.  Often 6-7 days a week during July & August.  
    • Bring employees and guests from the airport to housing and back to the airport when its time for them to go home.  
    • Drive in a SAFE, responsible manner always and keep all equipment in SAFE condition following all laws and regulations.        
    • Document safety checks in our automated system.
    • Maintain a CDL with passenger endorsement. 
    • Deliver a first-class experience to all employees, guests and visitors.
    • Follow all directives and regulations for keeping and maintaining buses in proper operating mode.

    The Captain is responsible for every aspect of the tour, voyage and vessel. Under advisement of the Fleet Captain follows set courses and speed, direct crew members, and ensure that the guests are happy and proper procedures are followed. Maintains logs and records of the ship's movements and whale sightings. They ensure the guest experience is excellent and supervises the loading and unloading of passengers.

    Under the direction of the Captain, the Deckhand is responsible for delivering an excellent guest experience to all passengers on board while maintaining the safety and comfort of everyone.     A Sales/Cashier is responsible for maintaining Guest Service as per company standard, generating sales, housekeeping, merchandising, signing, pricing, cash register operations (POS) and loss prevention in adherence to all Company Policy/Store standards.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensure that each Guest receives outstanding Guest Service by providing a Guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every Guest, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of Guest Service.
    • Maintain an awareness of all product knowledge information, merchandise promotions, and advertisements.
    • Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance and store housekeeping.
    • Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise; participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock.
    • Adhere to all Company policies, procedures and practices including signing, pricing, and loss prevention.
    • Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash and media accountabilities at POS registers.
    • Communicate Guest requests to management.
    • Any other duties as assigned by management.

    Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

    • Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat.
    • Prolonged periods of standing, with climbing stairs multiple times a day.  
    • Must be able to lift 40 pounds at times.
    • Ability to communicate in English to our associates and guests.  
    • Ability to read, write and count to accurately complete all documentation.
    • Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
    • Ability to work in an unheated building. 
    • Willing to live in a remote, rural community 
    • Comfortable traveling by small plane or ferry to and from a remote setting
    • Able to walk and/or drive on gravel roads in inclement weather
    • In Season, the hours can be extended.
