While we will have a cleaning crew for the vehicles, drivers are expected to assist in this chore. This means some cleaning is required every day. Expect about 20 to 30 minutes per day at the start and end of each shift dedicated to cleaning your vehicle. Keeping the vehicles in top condition starts with cleanliness - something to stay on top of when operating on gravel roads.

Freight CDL Driver
McCarthy Lodge Resort - CDL Freight Driver drives McCarthy - Anchorage round trip with pick ups in Anchorage (320 miles each way). The last 60 miles is a scenic gravel road through America's largest national Park, Wrangell St-Elias.
26' Refrigerated Box Truck. Multiple Pickups in Anchorage for return trip to McCarthy. Once a week trip. Two, 10-hour days. Day 1 drive from McCarthy to Anchorage. Day 2 Pick up at multiple stops in Anchorage and drive back to McCarthy. Additional freight hauling days are possible.

A summer of adventure for sure, and a joyful, casual dining room is yours to command. There's a unique al fresco experience on the deck where wilderness and an authentic sense of place make for very happy guests.
It all starts with Happy Professionals. Our service is notable for providing a sublime dining atmosphere exploring new Alaskan cuisine, paired with our Wine Spectator ‘Award Of Excellence’ (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) wine list.
Duties include managing the 150 label cellar. This is a small restaurant space with 12 tables.

PEAK SEASON: THE SOMMELIER POSITION IS FOR A MINIMUM OF TWO MONTHS - JUNE 15th THROUGH LATE AUGUST 20th EACH SUMMER. We have reduced hours on the shoulder season.
Position is ideal for a breakaway summer working-vacation for the right candidate.
HOUSING AND FOOD IS FREE
Housing is shared rooms. (Some tents available for single option Housing).
Internet (wifi) available. Free wifi is always available. Local hi-speed wifi for $40 month is available. Verizon is the only cell company that works in Wrangell St-Elias National Park. Download WhatsApp for Voip use. All housing options include showers, laundry and kitchen use as well as free food provided for you to cook and clean up after yourself.
All housing includes meal program of stocked kitchens for most items needed for meals. Staff cook and clean up after themselves in shared employee kitchens. Items provided include all basics as well as most produce and proteins. A complete list of Pantry, refrigerated and frozen items provided for staff is available to applicants. Most staff supplement their kitchen with some out of pocket expenses including eating at restaurants in the area, having Amazon products shipped in, purchases in town and at grocery stores in McCarthy, Valdez or Glennallen. Expect the majority of what you need on site and at no cost, but also expect your dietary substitutes to be your responsibility. Dietary issues and preferences such as Celiac, Vegans and vegetarians have an especially difficult time in remote locations due to logistics of special item needs.
One final note of advice regarding far away places to work:
In any remote location (such as wilderness Alaska or an island in the ocean) you will be on an adventure - and your control over your food will be your biggest struggle. The reality is, what's easy to get in the real world, like any specific item you crave, may be missing from your remote Alaska summer diet. We have decades of experience feeding crews in remote Alaska, your happiness matters to us - if your happy, our guests will be happy. If there are food items you need or crave, please discuss during your interview so we can advise you on specific ways to get what you need!
