Sous Chef
Cooking at the Minam is for chefs who are excited about highlighting excellent, local ingredients in the style of upscale, wilderness farm-to-table. For those who are seeking an escape from the stress and creative limits of a high-volume kitchen, this is a great opportunity to bring the focus back to the joy of creating. After 8 yrs of operating, we have developed a Minam Cuisine Ethos that guests have come to love and expect: garden produce-forward, accented by high quality local meats and occasional foraged ingredients; incorporation of unique rustic elements such as our fire pit and smoker; inviting, familial atmosphere created by our open kitchen, guest-to-chef interactions, and family style service.
The ideal candidate is able to strike a balance with elevated, yet approachable preparations that showcase the ingredients (especially produce from the onsite Minam Garden) and add to our guests' memorable experience. They are up for the challenges that come with cooking in a remote location and living and working with a close-knit team over an intense, 4-month season. Maintaining a positive attitude is crucial to success at the Minam.
