    Job Summary:
    The security guard is to help ensure the employee dormitory area, and other areas as assigned, is safe and secure by conducting regular reviews and checks throughout the scheduled shift.

    Position Type: Seasonal
    Season Dates: Starting May 2025 and ending October 2025
    Pay: $15.55 per hour

    Schedule: 56 hours every two weeks, alternating 4 days per week and 3 days per week. Shifts are 7:00pm to 3:30am

    Responsibilities

    • Be alert and awake during scheduled shifts; scheduled shifts are generally 7:00pm to 3:30am but can change subject to business needs.
    • Patrols the dormitory area, including the parking lot immediately adjacent to the dormitory and the shelter area known as “the gazebo”.
    • Assist employees who live in the dormitory with questions or who may have locked themselves out of their room.
    • Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
    • Maintain activity logs of disturbances, suspicious activity, or items of note on the shift report.
    • Complete and turn in shift report prior to clocking out for the shift.
    • Warns violators of rule/procedure infractions and document either in shift report or escalate to appropriate staff as needed.
    • Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
    • May conduct inspections of fire/safety equipment as requested.
    • Sounds alarm or calls National Park Service/emergency services by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons or other emergency.
    • May assist Fire and Safety Supervisor in conducting fire drills and room inspections.
    • Follow Company and departmental environmental and safety practices, policies, and procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Previous security or monitoring experience is strongly preferred.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record for the past 3 years.
    • Ability to learn and use the Incident Reporting software and prepare Incident reports and daily shift reports.
    • Ability to capture relevant factual information in order to properly complete reporting requirements.
    • Must have or able to obtain CPR, First Aid and AED certification through the American Heart Association.
    • Willing to “pitch-in” and help the team with tasks.
    • Must be a positive team player with flexible schedules who like to have fun and have the passion to work.

    Physical Requirements include:

    Frequently standing, walking, sitting, and liftying/carrying up to 10 pounds.

    Responsibilities

    • Shuttle service specifically for Xanterra employees.
    • Drives vehicle, most of the time a 12-passenger van, from individual or central loading area to dormitory, or other destination according to assigned schedule.
    • Ensure the vehicle is clean and fueled. Notify maintenance when the vehicle is in need of service or repair.
    • When in between shuttle runs, will unpacks, tags and back stocks incoming merchandise in accordance with standard operating procedure.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities

    • Report any health or safety hazards to the supervisor and take immediate action to address issues if needed; including reporting any pest activity to management and assisting with preventative measures
    • Monitor cleaning supplies and inform supervisors when stock levels are low or when additional items are needed.
    • Ensure that cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuums, mops, floor scrubbers) is properly maintained and stored when not in use.

    Responsibilities

    • Assists with planning and executing daily food preparation taking into consideration sustainability, food surpluses/leftovers, anticipated patrons, popularity of dishes, nutrition, and recency of menu.
    • Ensures proper methods of food preparation and cooking are being followed.
    • Ensures portion sizes, garnishments, and final product meet prescribed standard.
    • Provides training for staff for their assigned areas and consistently following the correct processes and procedures. During peak season could be upwards of 20 staff in a designated area.
    • Helps to ensure cost control within the department while meeting sustainability objectives.
    • Assists in providing food attendant oversight while staff is preparing food orders during peak visitation hours to ensure plate presentation, quality of food, organization/cleanliness and all related safety and sanitation protocols ensure a quality outcome
    • Understand and actively support Company’s Mission Statement, Core Values, and Sustainability efforts.

    Qualifications

    • Two years previous experience in a culinary leadership role; or a culinary degree and 1+ years of pervious experience.
    • Must have ServSafe Manager certification or be able to obtain within 6 months from date of hire.

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where project priorities, task deadlines, and assignments can change quickly and with little notice.

    Responsibilities

    • Collect bins for recycling of paper, cardboard, plastic, compost, metal, batteries, glass, and other materials.
    • Transport recyclable materials to other locations using tubs, carts, and pickup trucks.
    • Sort waste materials into proper waste-streams when necessary.
    • Collect, transport, and clean compost buckets. Operate and maintain in-vessel composters.
    • Operate two hydroponic growing systems including measuring, tracking, and adjusting nutrient and pH levels in a 231 sq. ft. rooftop vegetable greenhouse.
    • Weigh and keep accurate records of recycled materials and garden produce.
    • Serve as a champion for recycling, composting, and waste reduction with other employees.
    • Assist Sustainability Manager with various educational and training programs for staff and guests on recycling and sustainability habits.
    • Perform environmental inspections of every department monthly.
    • Notify management concerning the need for repairs to lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and other equipment to improve energy and water efficiency.
    • Assist maintenance department as requested by Maintenance Manager. Duties may include collection of trash, mowing, organizing a storage building, or sanitizing surfaces.
    • Follow Company and departmental environmental and safety practices, policies, and procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Experience with various sustainability practices including but not limited to: recycling, composting, gardening, hydroponics, and energy efficiency is preferred
    • Must possess a valid US driver's license and a clean driving record for the past 3 years.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where project priorities, task deadlines, and assignments can change quickly and with little notice.
    • Must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision while working within the guidelines set by their supervisors.
    • Must be able to complete written reports and documentation in English.
    • Ability and willingness to work outside in various weather conditions and temperatures at elevations over 5,000 feet.
    • Willing to “pitch-in” and help the team with tasks.
    • Must be a positive team player with flexible schedules who like to have fun and have the passion to work.

Employees must be 18 years old to live in the housing facilities at Mount Rushmore National Memorial.

AVAILABILITY DATES: Our busy season begins in May and lasts into September. Some positions start in early April and last until mid-October. Your employment chances improve if you can arrive early and work through September or later. Be realistic and specific about the exact dates you will be available, as these dates become part of your Employment Agreement.
