    AM Sous Chef

    The AM Sous Chef is responsible for leading the breakfast shifts and reports to the Executive Sous Chef and Executive Chef. This position is responsible for delivering an elevated breakfast experience that is representative of the region and executed to the highest standards. During down time this individual is responsible for ensuring those scheduled are performing cleaning and prep tasks to make future services run smoothly and ensure the kitchen is sanitary and ready for use.

    It is important that this position have extensive culinary experience and experience managing others. The ability to delegate and see things that need to be done without direction is critical. A high standard and the ability to hold others to it as well is necessary for success in this position.

    As a Sous this position is expected to offer menu ideas or modifications to the Executive Sous Chef and Executive Chef to further improve our offering. This position should also be mindful of inventory and keep the Executive Sous and Executive Chef informed.

    All members of the culinary team are expected to work autonomously and be able to find things to do when they have completed their assigned tasks and to ensure the kitchen is spotless.     Cook I is a more experienced culinary professional with significant experience in restaurants (preferably high-end).     Executive Sous Chef

    The Executive Sous Chef is expected to work with the Executive Chef to create an exceptional culinary experience across the ranch for our guests and also for our associates. We serve elevated Rocky Mountain cuisine individually plated and served banquet style most evenings with some remote cookouts and breakfast/lunch buffets. This position should have mastered all stations of the line and be able to teach and better their direct reports. This positions should work with the Executive Chef to create a culture of unity and purpose. This position will work with the Executive Chef to modify menus and come up with new ideas to improve the experience for our guests and associates. This position will also handle ordering and inventory when the Executive Chef is away.

    It is critical that this position and the Executive Chef be as one mind. That the standards, procedures, and execution remain the same when either one is working.

    It is important that this position have extensive culinary experience and extensive experience managing others.     The Pastry Chef will be responsible, with their assistant, for production of: breads, pastries, cookies, cakes, pies, and other desserts. The ability to produce high quantities of exceptional product is key. With 100 guests eating 3 meals a day and another 100 staff there is a lot coming out of the bake shop. Due to our high return rate for guests many of our desserts are expected but there is the ability to add creativity and new items over time. This position reports to the Executive Chef, and like all positions in the kitchen is expected to do daily cleaning and weekly deep cleaning of their workspaces.

    IT & Audio Video Assistant

    The IT & Audio Video Technician Assistant position at AMBWest will assist in the following primary roles:

       1. General IT Helpdesk technician troubleshooting Windows PC, Printers and other IT devices at various locations.

      2. Setup, monitor, troubleshoot and maintain Audio Video facilities for guest and staff meetings.

       3. Other IT projects assigned by IT manager.

     As part of a hospitality destination facility, this position requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and excellent interpersonal abilities.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Equipment Setup and Configuration:

       - Perform "preflight" checks for guest groups prior to presentations at our West Creek Ranch Facilities.

          This includes testing the A/V system and working with meeting attendees to make sure there presentations work smoothly and equipment is in good working order.

       - Monitor meeting presentation and be available for any technical issues that arise during meeting.

    Troubleshooting Skills:

       - Quickly diagnose and resolve technical glitches during meetings and for staff requests.

       - Troubleshoot connectivity issues, audio feedback, and video distortions.

       - Adapt to unforeseen challenges with composure.

    Collaboration and Communication:

       - Work closely with non-technical staff and guests on A/V and General IT requests as directed by IT manager.

       - Maintain clear communication with team members via email and IT ticketing system

       - Exercise patience and professionalism when interacting with guests and staff.

    Required Skills

       - Understand AV, IT, and general PC and Mac technologies.

       - Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Apple Keynote, or Google Slides a plus.

       - Microsoft Office suite.

       - IT Certification nice to have, but not mandatory.

    This Guest Services with Front Desk Focus hybrid position combines work in Guest Services with support of our front desk staff. Primary duties include answering phones, helping guests at the front desk, responding to email inquiries, assisting guests with gift shop purchases, transporting guests in 14 passenger vans, and supporting other departments in order to fulfill guest requests.     Position Summary

    The Herd Health Coordinator’s main responsibilities will align to help maintain a healthy overall herd through monitoring, treating, and tracking general health, injuries, illness, etc. so that our herd of horses can be as productive and as comfortable as possible throughout the season. Ideally, this individual will live on property which will make them the point person for the lower ranch facility. This position is a skilled role in which the above duties will help create a strong and healthy herd of horses that are cared for to the best of our ability. Horse care will be the main focus of this position, however as a member of the livery team, the Herd Health Coordinator will also assist with guest operations when available.

     

    Job Duties

    • Identifying, creating and executing treatment plans for horses facing illnesses or injuries. 
    • Providing updates to the Head Wrangler on individual animal health and overall herd health. 
    • Educating and teaching wrangle staff basic vetting skills such as treating minor wounds, performing hoof tests, administering eye drops etc. to make them more productive and skilled members of the team. 
    • Tracking and ordering vetting supplies and updating Head Wrangler and/or Assistant Head Wrangler on said orders. 
    • Providing updates and potential plans or options for horses that are not thriving due to age, lameness, injury, etc. 
    • Assist Head Wrangler in determining schedules for annual herd health management initiatives including vaccinating, deworming and floating teeth. 
    • Maintain relationships with the various veterinarians sought out by MSGR. 
    • Gathering/turning out lower ranch herd daily. 
    • Keeping Lower Ranch facility tidy and seek help for any maintenance/improvements that need to be made. 
    • Leading guest rides if needed and if time allows. 
    • Transporting horses between upper and lower ranch depending on their condition. 
    • Assisting with sick/injured horses across all AMB West properties (i.e. West Creek herd and Working Ranch herd) 
    • The Herd Health Coordinator should feel comfortable taking the initiative and informing the Head Wrangler when it comes to treatment plans and determining the best route of care for an animal. In the event of euthanasia of an animal, at minimum two people should be informed and agree on the course of action. Additional people can include the General Manager, Director of Land, Livestock & Conservation, or Head Wrangler

     

    Required Skills

    • Must have a valid driver’s license
    • Minimum 21 years of age (for insurance purposes)
    • Able to lift 50 lbs. overhead.

    • High aptitude for equine veterinary care up to and including:
      • Quickly and accurately obtaining TPR
      • Administering medications orally, IM (in multiple locations), IV (including via catheter), subcutaneously, and via SPL

    Preferred Skills

    • 4 years of experience in a veterinary setting
    • 3 years of experience in an equine-specific veterinary setting
    • 10 years of prior riding experience
    • Ability to operate tractor and/or skid steer

    HORSE OPERATIONS

    Wrangler

    The ideal wrangler candidate will demonstrate both excellent customer service and strong horsemanship skills. Wranglers will lead rides on 17,000 private acres, in addition to the neighboring Gallatin National Forest. Trail rides aren’t your typical nose-to-tail walking dude rides; o​ur guests stay for a week at a time, and they come to ride! We lead walk, trot, and lope rides, all with a heavy instruction component. A riding video will be required from applicants not able to join us for a live riding interview, but it is not necessary to submit the video with your initial application. 3 – 7 month positions available. Dates are mid May to August 22 at minimum, with a start date as early as April 1 and an end date as late as October 31.

Daily housekeeping duties in our 32 guest cabins and shared facilities are required. Primary duties include assisting with training, managing and working alongside our Guest Services staff as they rotate through the department. Must effectively communicate with other ranch departments to fulfill special requests and ensure guest needs are met. Assists with delivering stored and shipped items to guest cabins, upkeep of laundry, inventory and vendor management. Runs the department in the managers absence. 

    This position comes with a competitive monthly salary, free room and board, and a portion of a shared end of the year bonus upon successful completion of the guest season. This position requires a mid-April start date running through October 31.

    Noxious Weed Specialist

    The Noxious Weed Specialist must be independent, organized, self-motivated, flexible, and detailed.  This position is a crucial component to the Land & Livestock team and reports to the Director of Land, Livestock & Conservation. You will utilize a variety of techniques including chemical and mechanical methods to manage unwanted or nuisance vegetation. The ranch has implemented a long-term weed control management plan to reduce impacts on native plants from noxious weeds.  The ideal candidate will have an interest in invasive plant management, native plant habitat restoration, or plant science.  The position will run from June 1-August 28, 2024, with some flexibility on start and end dates.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Implementing a weed management program across property. Main duties will include herbicide applications and other methods of vegetation management under the supervision of a certified applicator.
    • Perform various work tasks involved in mapping and controlling noxious weeds; hiking, surveying, mapping, plant identification, hand pulling weeds, spraying weeds, in a front country and backcountry setting.
    • Position requires chemical applications and the need to mix chemicals, spray weeds with herbicide, rinse, and clean application devices, follow herbicide labels and use personal protective equipment.
    • Document spray targets, tracks, and work tasks using a tablet and mapping software.
    • Assist in other ranch duties as assigned.
    • Organize and maintain a clean work area and take responsibility for orderliness of tools and equipment.
    • Assist the Land & Livestock team with other ranch labor, i.e., fence maintenance, operating tractors, irrigation, equipment maintenance.

    Qualifications

    • Previous farm/ranch work preferred.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Experience with herbicides preferred; applicator’s license or willingness to train a plus.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and experience with operating 4-wheeler, side-by-side off-road.
    • Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, i.e., rain, heat, sun, cold.
    • Must be able to traverse various terrains.
    • Must be able to wear necessary PPE as necessary.
    • Must be able to maintain focus during dangerous tasks.
    • Must be able to lift, move and maneuver up to 50 pounds.
    • Must have endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard 8-10 hour day
    • Background in range management, weed identification preferred.

    Licensed Massage Therapist

    Mountain Sky’s Wellness Center was designed to add another dimension and greater balance to our ranch activities. In addition to scheduled massages and yoga classes, the Mountain Sky Wellness Center features a heated outdoor pool, indoor gym, yoga studio, cedar sauna, steam room, outdoor hot tub, and grotto for guests to indulge in.

    • Attend and participate in team meetings and Wellness Center related events. Attend all in-house training and commits to continuing education.

    Qualifications:

    • Proficiency in Thai Massage (Preferred but not required)

    • Act as wellness host to welcome guests, manage appointments, educate in general wellness and familiarize guests with the facility.
    • Provide support to Massage Therapists and other Wellness staff
    • Maintain and ensure cleanliness of the Wellness Lodge and its facilities.
    • Teach yoga classes and lead wellness walks to promote physical and mental wellbeing of participants.
    • Lead workshops during Mountain Sky’s October Wellness Week package

    Qualifications:

    • 2yrs + exp as an LMT
    • License in the state of Montana
    • Experience in high-end, luxury environments helpful
    • Proficiency in Thai Massage (Preferred but not required)

    • Experience teaching Hatha and Restorative yoga styles
