Join one-of-a-kind Buddhist art projects. You will learn the craftsmanship of working with metal (welding and shaping), concrete (rounded and decorative forms), wood, and clay (sculpting, firing, and assembly). We are creating a circular walkway of large-scale Buddhist art surrounding the main temple of Odiyan.
Includes:
Free home-cooked vegetarian meals and beverages
Free housing in a large room with a balcony, one roommate.
Free WI-FI and domestic phone calls
Free skill training in a wide range of trades and traditional arts
Access to a healthy setting of nature, hiking trails, wide-open spaces, sacred beauty, fresh air, clean water, and nutritious food
Living allowance of $200 per month/$300 after one year.
Opportunities for meditation, mantra, Buddhist practices, PLUS a program of Buddhist classes.
Buddhist Sacred Art projects for 2024
Craft 186 Clay Stupas: A monumental project crafting in red terracotta clay. Stupas are Buddhist sacred monuments that represent and activate harmonious and healing forces in the world.
Buddhist Sacred Art Installation: Work in the creative realm of art installation, both outdoors and in the temples. Provides an opportunity to experience and learn a wide range of skills including metalwork and welding, woodwork, decorative casting and finishing in concrete, sublimation printing on fabric, ceramics, and aluminum, and more.
Program length: The minimum commitment is 6 months.
You must be physically strong and good with working with your hands, with some experience in using tools and small machines. The Odiyan lifestyle is physically strenuous and active. Gaining self-knowledge and giving to a higher vision are honored values.
