Join a one-of-a kind Buddhist art project. You will learn the craftmanship of working with metal (welding and shaping), concrete (rounded and decorative forms), wood, and clay (sculpting, firing and assembly). We are creating a circular walkway of large-scale Buddhist art surrounding the main temple of Odiyan.
Includes:
Free home-cooked vegetarian meals and beverages
Free housing in a large room with a balcony, one roommate.
Free WI-FI and domestic phone calls
Free skill training in a wide range of trades and traditional arts

Buddhist Sacred Art projects for 2025
Craft 186 Clay Stupas: A monumental project crafting in red terracotta clay. Stupas are Buddhist sacred monuments that represent and activate harmonious and healing forces in the world.
Large-scale Bronze Statue: Odiyan foundry will produce a detailed and impressive 30 ft Buddhist statue in bronze. This project has been in the works for 3 years, and now comes to fruition with the final and intense stage of lost wax molding and pouring bronze.
Buddhist Sacred Art Installation: Work in the creative realm of art installation, both outdoors and in the temples. Provides opportunity to experience and learn a wide range of skills including metal work and welding, wood work, decorative casting and finished in concrete, sublimation printing on fabric, ceramics and aluminum, and more.
You must be physically strong and good with working with your hands, with some experience in using tools in any trade.
Program length: Preference is given to applicants who commit for 8 months. The minimum commitment is 6 months.
