Lodge Handler

This is a position for a Lodge Handler in Bethel, Alaska. This is a seasonal position that starts around June 15th, and runs through October 1.  As this is a seasonal business, the days are usually long, but go by fast. Note: there will be days and times throughout the day where you will have a chance to catch your breath.  Work is 6 days a week with 1 day off.   Start time and end time may vary due to pick-ups, drop-offs, and scheduled morning breakfasts. At the start of the season, it will be slower around the lodge but will continue to get busier as the season progresses. You will be able to use this time to work with your employer to get to know the area.  We promote a team/family atmosphere at Papa Bear Adventures and love to work hard and have fun.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preparing or assisting breakfast for lodge guests. Note: Not all mornings require breakfast.

• Helping cleaning and flipping lodge between guests, i.e. cleaning the common areas, bathrooms, change bedding, dishes, vacuum, etc.

• Picking up/taking clients to the airport within respectable time frames.

• Running errands for the lodge, i.e. shopping, banking, sending/receiving mail, etc.

• Taking clients at reasonable times to town for last-minute supplies.

• Assist with rescheduling of flights for clients in the event that there are cancellations or delays.

• Assist with client/trip paperwork when needed.

• Take count and stock supplies for the lodge, i.e. paper products, soap, laundry necessities, food for breakfast prep.

• Other miscellaneous tasks are required for normal daily operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Have and maintain a current driver’s license.

• Must be able to associate with clients to welcome them and answer any questions they have about the lodge and Bethel. Also, direct them to places within the city that will suit their needs.

• Must be able to work well with other employees and make split-second decisions.

COMPENSATION

This is a salary position and we pay monthly.  The pay structure is such.  June-$2,000, July-$2,000, August-$4,000, September-$6,000 for a total of $14,000 for the summer.  

You get a $1000 food stipend for the summer.

All housing is paid for including unlimited internet.

You will be provided a phone if yours does not work.
