The Pilchuck Glass School kitchen staff work as a team. The Head Chef, with cooperation of the Assistant Chefs, and Baker must be able to provide direction and instruction to less experienced kitchen assistants in a calm and supportive manner.
Recommended Qualifications
2+ years of professional experience [restaurant, catering, seasonal camps, etc.]
Minimum 2 years of professional training
Current ServSafe Manager Certification
Has recipes to support diverse pastries, baked goods and desserts for brunch, lunch and dinner
Experience supporting food restrictions, such as Gluten-Free, Vegetarian and Vegan diets
Experience assisting in meal prep and service
General outline of tasks
Responsible for baking all pastries, desserts and other baked goods for daily meals and events, coordinates goods with the developed menu
Helps Assistant Chefs and the Head Chef in all kitchen operations
Assists in supervising Kitchen Assistants; including assignment of tasks, training and orientation to the kitchen and how to properly prep food
Works with Head Chef in ordering of needed baking supplies, helps keep food costs on budget
Assists with the preparation of food for special events, coordinating with the Head Chef for menus and scheduling
Helps with food preparation, cooking. food service line set up and busing
Attends weekly summer staff meetings
Compensation
May include on campus single occupancy room
May work up to but not more than 40 hours a week at $22.00 per hour

Some access to glass blowing, printmaking, mold making and flame working studios
