    Operations

    Hells Canyon - Snake River manager

    The purpose of this position is to manage the on and off river activities for Tributary Whitewater Tours Hells Canyon operation. (One season apprenticeship required)

    Location - Halfway, OR 

    Pay - Depending on Experience - Starting at $ 1000 / week

    Duration - Full Time Seasonal from June  -  September 

    Responsibilities Include - 

    ● Gaining familiarity with and utilizing our reservations, scheduling and payroll systems 

    ● Assisting with pre-river trip permit paperwork 

    ● Following all Tributary company policies and standard operating procedures 

    ● Preparing and packing river trip meals

    ● Cleaning and sanitizing of all work spaces 

    ● Inventorying and ordering food as needed 

    ● Carrying & lifting heavy coolers and boxes 

    ● Utilizing strong organizational skills and attention to detail 

    ● Utilizing Google Drive and Google Sheets 

    ● Completing thorough inspections of assigned vehicle(s) 

    ● Filling out a driver log for each shuttle and filing as directed 

    ● Managing and overseeing financial responsibilities such as company credit card protocols as directed  

    ● Managing the cleanliness and general upkeep of the equipment and warehouse

    ● Making a full commitment to the job 

    ● Being on time and prepared for all scheduled shifts 

    ● Being able to adapt to changes in daily logistics 

    ● Possessing efficient time management 

    ● Displaying safety conscious practices in all work spaces 

     

    ● Working outdoors in all types of weather conditions for

    extended periods of time 

    ● The ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor 

          ● Possessing the desire and ability to interact with guests and staff in a friendly and        professional manner 

    ● Maintaining a good attitude and keeping morale high throughout the season 

    ● Being receptive to constructive criticism about job performance 

    ● Helping with janitorial, grounds, camp work and additional duties as needed

    ● Practicing environmentally sound processes 

    Mandatory Skills and Qualifications:

     

    Valid I-9 documentation verifying the ability to work legally in the US 

    ● Physical fitness at a level required to safely accomplish job 

    responsibilities 

    Valid Oregon food handlers certification 

    Desired Skills and Qualifications - 

    Familiarity with Google Drive and Google Sheets  

    ● Previous experience in the food service industry

    Current commercial drivers license with passenger endorsement  

    • Previous experience in Outfitting Operations Management

    Raft Guide in Training

    $80.00 / trip + tips

    Our whitewater guide school will teach you the skills to become a commercial river guide.

    Guide School is ideal for college students or winter recreation workers interested in summer employment. To be eligible for employment, participants must be at least 18.

    We are looking for people who are safety conscious, team oriented, hard working, responsible, personable, fit, environmentally conscious, and ready for challenges! Rafting instruction is in paddle boats. Completion of our guide school does not guarantee employment.

    First-Aid and CPR certification are mandatory for commercial river guides. These are not included with our guide school training, in order to maximize on-river time. We highly recommend obtaining these certifications prior to the guide school however, option will be available afterwards.

    Experienced Whitewater Raft Guide

    $85.00 - $115.00 / day + tips

    The purpose of this role is to guide our guests down our rivers safely,  enthusiastically, and professionally.

     

    Pay - Depending on experience: hourly work starting at $20/hour and river trip base rates starting at $90/day.

     

    Duration - Full Time Seasonal from Memorial Day - Labor Day

     

    Responsibilities include -  

    • Safely boating stretches of river

    • Providing a historical and environmental interpretive experience to our guests

    • Preparing delicious and appetizing meals

    • Ability to work outdoors for long days in diverse weather conditions

    • Gaining familiarity with and utilizing our reservations, scheduling and payroll systems daily 

    • Following all Tributary company policies and standard operating procedures

    • Making a full commitment to the job for the entire season

    • Being on time and prepared for all scheduled shifts 

    • Participating in pre and post trip packing, cleaning and debriefing

    • Being able to adapt to changes in daily logistics 

    • The ability to make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment

    • Possessing efficient time management  

    • Being receptive to constructive criticism about job performance

    • Communicating clearly and speaking to large groups

    • The ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor 

    • Possessing the desire and ability to interact with all guests and staff in a friendly and professional manner 

    • Maintaining a good attitude and keeping morale high throughout the season  

    • Helping with janitorial, grounds, camp work and additional duties as needed 

    • Displaying safety conscious practices on and off the river

    • Practicing environmentally sound processes such as Leave No Trace 

     

    Mandatory Skills and Qualifications -  

    • Must be 18+ years of age

    • Successfully complete Tributary Whitewater Tours’ Guide School or have completed whitewater guide school elsewhere

    • Valid I-9 documentation verifying the ability to work legally in the US

    • Current CPR certification - online course not accepted

    • Current Wilderness First Aid certification or above - online course not accepted

    • Current food handlers certification

    • Physical fitness at a level required to safely accomplish job responsibilities

     

    Desired Skills and Qualifications - 

     

    • Current Swiftwater Rescue certification (mandatory for trip leaders)

    • Current driver’s license - preferably a commercial driver’s license with passenger endorsement

    • Previous experience in the customer service industry

    Shuttle Driver

    $120.00 / day + tips

    The purpose of this role is to drive passenger shuttles for our river trips safely, enthusiastically, and professionally.

    Requirements:

    • Possess a current California commercial drivers license with passenger endorsement 
    • Reporting to the Operations Manager regarding scheduling.
    • Reporting to the Vehicle Manager regarding vehicle needs and repairs.
    • Gaining familiarity with and utilizing Arctic to check work schedule daily.  
    • Completing thorough inspections of assigned vehicle(s) daily.
    • Filling out a driver log for each shuttle and filing as directed.  
    • Following gas card protocols as directed.
    • Being familiar with and responsible for take-out drink and travel lunch procedures.
    • Managing the cleanliness and general upkeep of the assigned vehicle.  
    • Being able to adapt to changes in daily logistics.
    • Must be responsible and make a full commitment to the job.
    • Possessing good time management.
    • Being on time and prepared for all scheduled shifts.
    • Safety conscious practices on and off the road.
    • Working outdoors in all types of weather conditions for extended periods of time.
    • The ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
    • Possessing the desire and ability to interact with guests and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
    • Maintaining a good attitude and keeping morale high throughout the season.
    • Practicing environmentally sound processes.
