Join us for a memorable summer working as a naturalist/photography guide in Skagway and Haines, Alaska. Rainbow Glacier Adventures (RGA), based in Haines and Skagway, Alaska, is seeking photographer/naturalist guides for our 2025 season. A summer with RGA in Haines or Skagway offers opportunities for encounters with breathtaking wildlife in one of the world’s most stunning landscapes. Every day, our guides  interact with travelers from all over the world. Guides drive small-group educational tours focusing on photography, natural history, and sightseeing. Typical tours are three to four hours long, utilize small vans or buses, and average eight guests. We at RGA pride ourselves in taking care of our employees and providing exceptional customer service to our guests. RGA provides training in Alaska natural history, customer service and safe driving. Candidates must bring a working knowledge of photography basics and be able to teach photography techniques to novices. They must also be able to discuss advanced photography with guests who are more proficient. 

We offer quality employee housing in Skagway (private room, shared bathroom and kitchen) at an affordable rate, along with competitive pay + tips, and a generous end-of- season bonus. RGA does not provide employee housing in Haines but we can assist with locating a suitable situation.

Our guides assist guests with:

Photography:

  • Learning how to better use their chosen camera- from Smartphone cameras to professional photography gear

  • Proper exposure and composition techniques for stunning photographs

  • Photographing wildlife, including brown bears, moose and bald eagles, in their natural habitats

  • Creating compelling landscape photos that showcase beauty of Haines and Skagway

Nature, history and culture: 

  • Understanding  Southeast Alaskan natural including glaciers, rain forests, salmon, brown bears, and bald eagles

  • Learning about the Klondike Gold Rush and Northwest Coast Native Culture

Requirements:

  • Photography experience - must have a working knowledge of all the basics of photography including exposure, depth of field, and capturing motion with a still camera  

  • Personal camera gear

  • Valid US Driver's License

  • Valid Passport (Skagway guides must not have any barriers for entrance into Canada)

  • Provide 3-year driving record with no serious violations

  • Candidates must pass a Commercial Drivers Medical Exam but a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is not required for this position

  • First Aid/CPR Certification 

  • Commitment to the full season (late April to the end of September) A shorter season is possible but options are limited

  • Proficiency in English, multi-lingual is a plus

  • US Citizen or Valid Green Card
