Residential, full-time position in Rhinebeck, NY, includes room & board.
Seeking an experienced supervisor with a strong background in outdoor education and ropes course facilitation. Lifeguard certification and waterfront experience is a plus.
During the school year, this role is a key member of the supervisory team for our Retreats program for visiting schools and organizations. Our program supervisors support our team of facilitators in creating experiential learning opportunities that work towards designated outcomes and objectives related to social emotional learning, healthy peer relationships, and community building through outdoor education and adventure-based learning. Over the summer months, our Retreat team takes on key roles at our residential summer camp that serves young people with social, emotional, and learning challenges. The ideal candidate will transition to a summer supervisory role. Year round weekly schedule will vary and will include evenings and some weekend days based upon program needs.
Responsibilities:
Ropes Course - Provide expertise, experience and skills specific to the operation of high and low ropes elements. This includes supervision and training of facilitators, and assisting in the maintenance of the course and equipment.
Staff Training - Participate in Ramapo based training. Develop and facilitate training opportunities for retreat facilitators that include but are not limited to, small group facilitation, outdoor education, ropes course, purposeful debrief and more.
Group Supervision - Responsible for co-facilitation of staff development and ongoing supervision and training of a cohort of recent college grad direct service staff with multiple roles on Campus.
Retreat Leadership - Meet regularly with Retreat Team Leadership to assess the needs of the team and create training and opportunities for skill development.
Program Development - Work with Retreats Team Leadership to develop, lead, and supervise a range of experiential programming.
Summer Supervisor - Serve as a supervisor in Ramapo’s summer camp community, such as Waterfront Director or Challenge Supervisor.
Required skills, knowledge, and abilities:
3 years of extensive challenge/ropes course facilitation experience, both high and low elements, demonstrated experience with high element rescue techniques.
ACCT LV 2 Practitioner Certification or the ability to obtain one.
2 years of experience supervising staff.
Ability to live on Ramapo’s campus in Rhinebeck, NY
