Looking for a guide to live in an extremely beautiful remote location outside of Seward, Alaska. You would be responsible for a camp consisting of two yurts, at the edge of a glacier lagoon filled with large icebergs. The area is accessible by helicopter. Tours run from June 1st- September 10th. The guide should be available 7-10 days before and after these days for camp set up and take down.  

Food and lodging provided, lodging is in the form of a simple cabin (no running water). There is a basic cooking area. You will be responsible for up to 6 guests at one time. Preference will be given to those candidates who have previous backcountry experience.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Maintaining cleanliness of structures and grounds, including outhouse

  • Entertaining guests and providing a safe environment

  • Keeping camp free of trash and food except in designated areas, for bear safety

  • Small maintenance projects to upkeep and improve camp including the use of chainsaws, weed whackers, and other power tools.

  • Reheating food for guests (food is catered will be sent with guests for every trip) and preparing a simple breakfast as well as appetizer plate

  • Helicopter safety, especially in regards to loading and unloading the helicopters (this will be taught at arrival, regardless of existing experience level with helicopters) 

  • Camp chores: preparing yurts before guests arrive such as making beds and putting out water, communicating with office on supplies needed, sending trash, used sheets and empty propane tanks back to town as needed

  • Socializing with guests, starting campfire for guests and setting up s’mores 

Required experience: 

  • CPR, First Aid (WFR preferred) 

  • Experienced kayaker including prior experience giving kayak tours 

  • Great customer service 

  • Living in a remote setting with limited facilities
