Are you passionate about the outdoors and committed to helping young people grow into the leaders of tomorrow? SOAR Inc. is searching for a dependable, driven, and creative outdoor professional to join our team as the Director of North Carolina Programs. This is more than just a job; it's an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of youth while working in some of the most beautiful and inspiring natural settings.

Why Work at SOAR Inc.? At SOAR, we believe in the transformative power of outdoor experiences. Our programs are designed to provide a safe and supportive environment where young people, particularly those with ADHD and learning disabilities, can develop life skills, build confidence, and foster teamwork. As the Director, you will play a critical role in shaping these experiences, leading a dedicated team, and ensuring the success of our summer camps in North Carolina and Florida.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive Salary: Starting range between $52,000 - $60,000.

  • Comprehensive Benefits: Including HSA, PTO, 401k, Sick Leave, Pro-deals, and access to Medical, Life, Dental, and Vision Insurance.

  • Professional Growth: Work closely with a passionate team, gain invaluable experience in program management, and develop your leadership skills in a dynamic outdoor setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Planning & Management: Oversee all aspects of summer camp programming, from initial planning and staff recruitment to daily operations and post-camp evaluations. You will ensure that our programs meet the highest standards of safety, fun, and educational value.

  • Staff Leadership & Development: Lead, supervise, and inspire a team of Assistant Directors, Course Directors, Outdoor Trip Leaders, and Activity Specialists. You will also play a key role in staff recruitment and training, ensuring that our team is well-prepared to deliver exceptional experiences.

  • Summer Camp Operations: Take the lead in organizing and participating in a wide range of camp activities, including rock climbing, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, and more. Your hands-on involvement will ensure that our campers have the best possible experience.

  • Administrative & Budgeting: Manage program budgets, coordinate with government agencies for permits, and assist with accreditation preparation. Your organizational skills will be crucial in maintaining the smooth operation of our camps.

  • Year-Round Programs: Extend your impact beyond the summer by managing our Florida Winter Program, Outdoor Classrooms, and additional special programs. You'll work closely with schools to tailor experiences that meet their specific needs.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience working with children, preferably those with ADHD or learning disabilities. Previous managerial or supervisory experience is a must, along with experience in outdoor education or recreation management.

  • Certifications: Must have (or be able to obtain) WFR and Lifeguard Certifications. Experience in leading activities such as rock climbing, whitewater rafting, and mountain biking is highly preferred.

  • Skills: We’re looking for a self-starter who is independent, collaborative, and creative. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

Physical Requirements: This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to hike with a 25-40 pound backpack over rough terrain, belay in climbing activities, and camp outdoors in various weather conditions.
