About TEMSCO Helicopters - Denali

We are the originator of the helicopter glacier tour in Alaska (safely landing guests on glaciers for 40 years).  Founded in 1958 in Ketchikan, Alaska, TEMSCO believes that the best way to experience the raw beauty of the great land is from the air.  Our Denali heli-base is located 1/2 mile from Denali National Park entrance.  We are remote, but also on the road system with access to comfortable amenities, as well as vast wilderness.

The Employee Experience

We are a small heli-base that serves up big, life-changing experiences for our guests.  We want our employees to not only help facilitate those excursions but to also experience those life-altering adventures that Denali has to offer.  You will have the opportunity to "play hard" in the land of the midnight sun; Most tour operators offer complimentary or discounted tours to local employees: whitewater rafting, ATV tours, horseback riding, etc.  As part of the TEMSCO team, you'll become part of the Denali community of seasonal workers - like-minded individuals, building life-long friendships through epic Alaskan adventures.

Ideal Candidate

We are selective to ensure that our employees and our guests have the best experience possible. Our company success is measured through the success of each individual employee.  Our ideal candidate is someone that believes in our mission of providing safe, quality Alaskan experiences.  Our team members are professional, friendly, and have an overall generous spirit.  They have outstanding customer service skills, are able to multitask and be self-motivated.  Our employees have integrity, a strong work ethic, and are team players.  Most of all, a positive attitude is paramount!

Our staff is small - employees work, live, eat and socialize with each other on a daily basis.  Solid interpersonal skills are key, as well as the ability to thrive in a relatively remote setting.  If you sincerely enjoy working with people and want to contribute to an amazing guest experience, while having an unforgettable and unique experience of your own, then we want you to join our team.

Room and Board

TEMSCO offers complimentary employee housing for all Denali employees. We have single occupancy rooms, with shared bathrooms. We do everything we can to make sure that you are comfortable in your home away from home. As such, all housing units come fully furnished with a bed, necessary furniture, and bedding. Detached from the living quarters, we have a full kitchen/living area that is well stocked with supplies such as dishes, utensils, pots/pans, Tupperware, and basic spices.  The shared living area also has a common room with a big-screen TV.  Outside deck area with BBQ grills and fire ring, by the river.

You are responsible for your own food.  Employees will be given an additional $25/day per diem for food - this will be added to your paycheck.  There is a large grocery store 10 miles north of the base.  A company vehicle may be used for shopping and excursions when prearranged.  We have plenty of parking if you bring your own vehicle.

We take pride in providing top-notch employee housing, and we expect our employees to maintain this high standard. TEMSCO will provide the cleaning products to make it easier for you to keep your space nice and tidy, but it will be up to you and your housemates to work out an amicable cleaning schedule.  We also provide paper towels and toilet paper.  Our accommodations include a complimentary clothes washer/dryer, with laundry detergent provided.

All buildings on base are equipped with complimentary, good WiFi.

Our heli-base is a pet-free zone - sorry!

Getting Here and Getting Around

It is the employee’s responsibility to make their own way to Anchorage. The local airport is Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC). We will meet in Anchorage 2 days prior to carpooling the vehicles north to Denali. Denali is approximately 250 miles north of Anchorage (4-5 hour drive). TEMSCO will provide accommodations for the 2 days in Anchorage prior to the drive north. This time in Anchorage will allow us to get acquainted with each other and gather the necessary supplies for the summer.

Another option is to drive to Anchorage/Denali. Denali National Park is very remote and bringing a vehicle can open opportunities for your days off.  Although TEMSCO does provide a vehicle to run errands, it’s not always a dependable mode of transportation for your days off. If you're feeling adventurous, and have a dependable vehicle, feel free to drive the few thousand miles to Denali along the Alcan or Cassiar highways. It's an incredibly beautiful trip. Don’t forget your passport!

Once in Denali, you’ll find that everything is within walking distance. We are located along the Nenana River just across from the National Park.  Biking is a common form of transportation; however, you would need to provide your own bicycle. Company housing is just a 5-minute walk/bike ride to the local restaurants and shops.

For Fun

This is the land of the Midnight Sun! While Denali is small you will quickly learn it is filled with adventures for anyone looking. Alaska is the perfect place for anyone that enjoys the outdoors. Employees can enjoy their free time kayaking, camping, hiking and so much more!

As a TEMSCO employee, you will have the opportunity to take part in some phenomenal local excursions at a complimentary or reduced rate. You can spend your free time on a zip line course, horseback riding, a guided hike, bike tour, river rafting, and much more. After your big day of adventure, employees can unwind with dinner at one of Denali’s great eating establishments, listen to a local band, or roast s’mores around a campfire.  The opportunities for fun are limitless!
