    Dining Room

    Host

    $17.00 - $19.00 / hour
    Bar Harbor

    The host greets and seats guests, while assisting in the management of reservations and wait lists. The host also promotes a harmonious environment in the dining room by assisting other roles, as needed, during peak times. They will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.

    OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Welcome guests in a timely and friendly fashion
    • When applicable, check them in for their reservation or add them to a waitlist
    • This role will likely involve the use of an iPad and the OpenTable program 
    • Walk guests to the table at a leisurely pace, pointing out any steps along the way
    • Seat guests according to restaurant protocol (sections vs. rotation, etc.)
    • Starting, assessing, and managing wait lists, when applicable
    • Maintain a clean and presentable entrance and dining area
    • When applicable: 
      • Check voicemail daily, and return calls as appropriate
      • Answer phone and field questions regarding the restaurant,
      • Book reservations via OpenTable
      • Confirm large party reservations daily
      • Be familiar with group function guidelines and protocols
    • Set up and clean the station according to restaurant protocol which includes the wiping down of menus each shift
    • Other duties as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS

    This is a job that requires long periods of standing and walking, with no sitting unless during breaks. Applicant will be lifting crates and cases of beverage products, as well as 5-gallon buckets of ice. This is a job that requires frequent use of stairs throughout the shift. 

     

    Dining Room

    Bartender

    $12.00 - $14.00 / hour + tips
    Bar Harbor

    The Bartender is to provide an incredible dining experience to guests and be the first gastronomical element to the guests via beverages; key responsibility includes ensuring beverages are consistently created in a timely fashion. The bartender’s role is vital to the success of guest satisfaction. [Upstairs bartender interacts with seated bar patrons and handles to-go orders.] They will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.

    OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Knowledge of beer, wine, and spirit offerings
    • Provide quality and consistent beverages from cocktail menu and off-menu
    • Change kegs, soda syrup, and CO2 tanks, as needed
    • Bring empty kegs and returnables to designated areas
    • Restock bar
    • Provide full service to guests seated at the bar, as well as service drinks
    • Collect cash-outs from servers, secure for GM
    • Lock up the restaurant during closing shifts
    • Maintain secure, clean, and organized liquor room
    • Ensures quality and freshness of ingredients and products
    • Maintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation requirements by properly handling and storing ingredients
    • Set up and clean the station according to restaurant protocol
    • Responsible for table service of bar patrons, which includes both food and beverage
    • Complete all opening and closing side work
    • Other duties as assigned

    Kitchen

    Prep Cook

    $17.00 - $20.00 / hour
    Bar Harbor

    The Prep Cook is to assist in the preparation of delicious dishes in the kitchen. They will perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipes. A great prep cook will be quick and diligent and willing to improve on the job. They will be deft and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. They will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.

    OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
    • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
    • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
    • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
    • Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
    • Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc., and assist the Line Cook when needed.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
    • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
    • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
    • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
    • Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
    • A team player with good communication skills
    • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
    Kitchen

    Line Cook

    $17.00 - $21.00 / hour
    Bar Harbor

    The Line Cook is to cook delicious dishes in the kitchen. They will perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, and then prepare dishes according to recipes.  They will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team. They will report to the head chef and ensure that all dishes are made in a timely manner and in accordance with the standards set in the kitchen.

    OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
    • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
    • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
    • Answer, report and follow chef or sous chef’s instructions
    • Clean up station and take care of leftover food
    • Stock inventory appropriately
    • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
    • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
    • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
    • Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
    • A team player with good communication skills

    Kitchen

    Dishwasher

    $16.00 - $17.00 / hour
    Bar Harbor

    The Dishwasher ensures that the kitchen stays clean and organized. They set up dish stations and turn on dish cleaning machines. They spend their time loading and unloading dishes from dish machines, washing all pans or utensils that come into contact with food, and scraping identifiers off everything. Once dishes are cleaned, Dishwashers will put them on the drying rack and put away dry dishes into cabinets and on shelves.  They will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.

    OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Collect used kitchenware from dining and kitchen areas
    • Load and unload dishwashing machines
    • Wash specific items by hand (e.g. wooden cutting boards, large pots and delicate china)
    • Store clean dishes, glasses and equipment appropriately
    • Set up workstations before meal prep begins
    • Ensure there are always enough clean dishes, glasses and utensils, especially during peak hours
    • Maintain cleaning supplies stock (e.g. detergents) and place orders when necessary
    • Check washing machines’ operation and promptly report any technical/performance issues
    • Remove garbage regularly
    • Sanitize the kitchen area, including the floor
