The Harborside Inn is now hiring a Maintenance Lead to join the team!

This position is located on Martha's Vineyard. Housing is available. 

The position may be seasonal or year-round (depending on the candidate’s preference).

The Harborside Inn is  Martha's Vineyard's premier waterfront resort, located on the harbor in the heart of Edgartown. With 90 guest rooms and luxury hotel amenities, it is the perfect place to vacation in the heart of Edgartown with all the galleries, dining, shops, and nightlife the town has to offer.

Anticipated Dates:

This position is available immediately.

Our full season is from April 1, 2025 through November 15, 2025. All positions are employment-at-will. 

The position may also be year-round if the candidate is interested in year-round. 

Compensation:

$25 to $30 per hour. 

Housing is available for $185/week.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Maintenance Lead plays a key role in our mission to deliver world-class service and products and a memorable vacation experience to everyone who passes through our doors. This role involves performing maintenance tasks while supporting the Director of Facilities in supervising the day-to-day operations within the maintenance department. The Maintenance Lead ensures that all maintenance needs are met efficiently while fostering a safe and welcoming environment for guests and team members alike. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Supervising day-to-day maintenance operations and ensuring team members follow safety protocols

  • Performing basic maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, HVAC repairs, pool operations, landscaping, and preventative maintenance

  • Assisting with team scheduling 

  • Tracking work orders and ensuring timely completion of maintenance requests

  • Helping maintain inventory of equipment and supplies

  • Supporting the Director of Facilities in training team members and maintaining departmental standards.

  • Partnering with other departments to ensure seamless operations across the property

Guest Service Related:

  • Initiating conversations with guests and owners and being attentive to them.

  • Obtaining the necessary knowledge to provide information and recommendations to guests and owners

  • Arriving to work as scheduled and following the property's attendance guidelines.

  • Attending meetings and training as requested.

  • Practicing all safety guidelines of the organization and reporting safety concerns to management.

  • Adhering to organizational guidelines/policies/expectations as well as federal, state, and local laws, including the property's confidentiality expectations.

Qualifications:

All of our team members are passionate about guest service and helping others. They initiate conversations, anticipate the needs of others, and interact with others in a courteous and efficient manner. They love being a team player and are detail-oriented as well as flexible/adaptable. They are able to work a flexible work week including nights, weekends, and holidays. This position involves both indoor and outdoor work environments.

In addition, this position will ideally have:

  • 1-3 years of experience performing maintenance tasks

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience helpful (but not necessarily required)

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office helpful (but not necessarily required)

  • Experience using software to track maintenance orders helpful

  • Strong leadership abilities with knowledge of best practices for managing teams effectively

  • Excellent guest service skills with a focus on proactive communication and problem-solving

  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

  • Physical ability to lift up to 50-100 pounds and perform tasks that require bending or kneeling as needed.
