    We’re hiring an Assistant Director of Food & Beverage to Live. Work. Explore. in Death Valley National Park!

    Job Summary:
    The Assistant Food and Beverage Director works with the Food and Beverage Director to control all Food and Beverage operations. This includes all operations at The Ranch and the Inn, including, The Inn Restaurant, The Inn Bar, The Inn Pool Bar, 1849 Buffet, Last Kind Words Saloon, Ice Cream Shop, 19 Hole, and Employee Dining Room and pub. In addition, oversees and works closely with the Catering and Events Manager to direct banquets functions that include special events, weddings, and other functions that have Food and Beverage. Works closely and professionally with GM, Executive Director of Operations, Directors, suppliers, and outside contractors.

    Position Type: Year Round

    Pay: $73,632 and up dependant on experience

    Responsibilities

    • Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.
    • Direct all departments within the Food and Beverage Department according to established policies and procedures, guest service standards, financial plans, and company directives.
    • Set and maintain departmental standards for productivity, cleanliness, ordering, cost control, training, safety, equipment uses, and especially guest service.
    • Administer all company and department policies, design department policies and procedures for each of the departments in the Food and Beverage Department and ensure compliance of such in each department.
    • Work with Food and Beverage Department management in the selection, assigning, training and development of Food and Beverage Department staff according to company policies and procedures.
    • Ensure that Kronos is monitored and approved daily for entire department ensuring staff breaks are taken in accordance with California state laws and that staffing is adjusted according to labor budgets.
    • Ensure the continual training of staff through participation in training and development classes.
    • Conduct routine inspections of all assigned areas of responsibility including restaurants, kitchens, coolers and storage areas to ensure organization, cleanliness, and food safety procedures are being enforced.
    • Participate in and ensure monthly inventories are properly staffed and conducted according to the Accounting and Inventory procedures.
    • Assist in the design and planning all menus including banquet menus with Food and Beverage Director for all Food and Beverage outlets with review by Executive Director of Operations and General Manager.
    • Must be present at all Inyo County health and sanitization inspections and take corrective action if necessary.
    • Work closely with and trains management to ensure that service standards, guest satisfaction, labor costs, expenses, and loss control measures are conducted.
    • Work closely with Purchasing Department to ensure product availability, proper ordering, and approve new products ordered.
    • Assists Food and Beverage Director to complete annual reviews for all management personnel in the department, as well as establish goals and objectives for each manager.
    • Maintain coordination and communication with other departments affected by Food and Beverage such as Sales, Rooms, Maintenance, and Accounting.
    • Communicate staffing needs, including management staff, with Human Resources and the Recruiter
    • Ensure that all staff members are conforming to the Oasis and Death Valley uniform and appearance standards.
    • Whenever necessary handle and respond to guest concerns and complaints with tact, courtesy, and professionalism. When necessary, approve guest refunds.
    • Project a commitment to Oasis at Death Valley environmental policies.
    • Act as property Director on Duty as assigned.
    • Respond and participate during emergencies as necessary.
    • Administer corrective actions and improvement plans to staff members that are not in compliance with Oasis at Death Valley policies, procedures, and standards.
    • Facilitate and document annual departmental refresher trainings with all employees, to include “Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Awareness” and “Emergency Action Plan procedures.”

    Other duties as assigned.


    Qualifications

    • Minimum three years’ experience in a high volume, multi-unit Food and Beverage operation.
    • Prior experience as a Food and Beverage Director, Food and Beverage Manager, or Asst. Food and Beverage Director.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to professionally interact with guests, clients, and employees.
    • Advanced computer skills to quickly learn POS systems and other food and beverage systems.
    • Ability to assist Food and Beverage Director, Executive Director of Operations, Director of Sales & Marketing and General Manager with development and implementation of strategies that will result in increased revenues and productivity.
    • Possess valid Driver’s License and comply with the Oasis at Death Valley Company Vehicle Policy.
    • Knowledge of and implementation of AAA Three and Four Diamond service standards.
    • Successfully complete Serv-Safe food sanitation course and TIPS Certification.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Previous experience in a Three or Four Diamond Hotel, Food and Beverage Operation.
    • Ability to emergency plan and conduct operations during adverse conditions.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Restaurant Management, Culinary Certification, or equivalent.

    Physical Requirements include:

    • Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, standing, walking, using eye/hand coordination, handling, wrist motion.
    • Frequently walk and lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
    • Occasionally sit, handle, reach outward, reach above shoulder, squat or kneel, lift/carry and push or pull up to 100lbs.
    • Will be required to stand long periods of time and to occasionally walk up flights of stairs.
    • Ability to work in extreme temperatures.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides needed parts for repair and maintenance of facilities using the INFOR computerized purchase order system. Follows up with vendors to insure timely delivery of required products and services. Receives incoming parts.
    • Provides cost control and accountability of all departmental inventory.
    • Tracks re-order points and ensures that the proper materials are being inventoried
    • Produces necessary reports as required by the Director of Engineering, Accounting, and Corporate.
    • Provides support and input for the further development of INFOR.
    • Plans and schedules weekly material runs.
    • Checks for and distributes all incoming maintenance requests.
    • Maintains filing and record keeping for the Engineering Department.
    • Enters all data into appropriate reports on a weekly basis, including but not limited to the stock movement report.
    • Performs and coordinates physical inventory of all stored materials as directed by the Director of Engineering.
    • Assists the CMMS Administrator as required.
    • Performs all assignments as directed by the Director of Engineering to ensure safety, quality, timeliness, and cost effectiveness.
    • Maintain a spirit of cooperation within the department and throughout other departments as well as with our guests. Be professional on the phone but keep calls focused on gathering specific information to permit timely correction of problems.
    • Work hours, shifts, and overtime as directed by the Director of Engineering or his/her designate.

    Qualifications

    • Computer skills required and the ability to learn and become proficient with CMMS. Be familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) as well as the internet.
    • Knowledge of parts and overall purchasing skills are required. Able to effectively communicate with vendors.
    • Warehouse experience helpful.
    • Be able to handle multi-line phones and be efficient and professional with all calls.
    • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multi-task as well as work with rapidly changing priorities.
    • Demonstrate professional verbal and written communication skills.

    Physical Requirements include:

    Driving Company-owned Vehicles

    • Company vehicles many include golf and utility cars and passenger vehicles. To be considered for this role, employees must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, or international permit, and must not have three or more moving violations within the last twelve months. Employees on temporary permits or probationary licenses will not be allowed to drive company vehicles. Drivers may need to lift heavy objects and load them into their vehicles, requiring upper body strength and physical stamina. A minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50) is required.     Responsibilities

    • Must be able to bend, push, pull and lift for extended periods of time.

    Responsibilities

    • Complete work orders and repairs in a timely and thorough manner, maintaining cost effectiveness in repairs for industrial, kitchen and residential electrical and gas fired equipment and facilities.
    • Evaluate condition of equipment and make recommendations for repair or replacement.     Qualifications

    • Four years experience as an Electrician.
    • Ability to work with voltages ranging from 0-480 volts (1200k volts where applicable), which includes single phase and three phase.
    • Possess working knowledge on National Electrical Code.
    • Ability to read, comprehend and draw schematics and diagrams.
    • Ability to distinguish between “delta” and “Y” connected transformers.
    • Ability to give an accurate estimate of time and material necessary for a given project.
    • Ability to trouble-shoot and repair control circuits using a variety of testing equipment including ammeters, multimeters, oscilloscopes and test lamps.
    • Ability to trouble-shoot and repair commercial and residential electrical and gas fired kitchen equipment and appliances.
    • Ability to bend rigid and electrical metallic tubing conduits.
    • Ability to install residential wiring including Romex and flexible conduit.
    • Ability to install 3-way and 4-way light switches.
    • Ability to perform limited electrical motor repair.
    • Possess or obtain a valid California Driver’s License within 90 days of start date and comply with the Xanterra Vehicle Policy.
    • Have the physical ability to perform the tasks of the job including entering confined space and ascending/descending ladders.

    Job Summary:

    We are looking for an HVAC Technician to assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of domestic and commercial refrigeration, heating and air conditioning systems as well as ice making equipment. This role requires overtime and on-call shifts as required by the Chief of Engineering or other leader. Our mission is to provide legendary service to our guests visiting from all over the world, and your work is instrumental to our success!

    Responsibilities

    Qualifications

    • A valid drivers license.
    • Minimum of 1 year documented experience with basic knowledge and ability to perform the following tasks:
      • Basic knowledge and skills to work and maintain A/C equipment.
      • Ability to sweat copper.
      • Ability to assist in troubleshooting domestic and commercial heat pumps, A/C, refrigeration and ice making equipment.
      • Ability to use applicable A/C equipment.
      • Ability to read, interpret and work with voltages ranging from micro to 240.
      • Ability to read, interpret and work from refrigeration and electrical schematics.

    Physical Demands

    • The ability to lift and carry 60 lbs.
    • The ability to climb and work from a ladder up to 30 feet from ground level.
    • The ability to enter and work in crawl spaces and attics.
